If he does go on loan and they cover his wages, all we lose is whatever his signing on fee was. It probably wasn't much. I've said it before, he was signed when we only had one centre-half on the books and would have been very cheap. The lad was terribly unlucky to pick up such a bad injury at the start of the season as well.
