This kind of argument always makes me chuckle when it's made in relation to professional football.

No one holds a gun to anyone's head and forces them to be a player, coach, CEO, recruitment "expert" or whatever else at a football club that is always going to be in the public eye and come under scrutiny from lots of people. That's the price on the ticket. They go into it eyes wide open.

If they can't handle the criticism then they are in the wrong job and should go and do something else that isn't in the public eye.

Personally, I am sick of our football team being perennially shite yet some of it is being blamed on perceived fan negativity. The arrogance from these people is astounding.

We played well against Forest and Man City, with just a few variations in team selection. I think confidence is everything, it's obviously shot. Hopefully by the end of January we'll see us up the table a little, otherwise it's a tough battle.

This is true, saying that, he should rely on the same thick skin he employed when he himself used to make use of social media. He never came over as a shrinking violet.

Just because someone is famous and good at their job doesn't mean that they are happy away from it, and they're away from it a lot. Keith Moon was once asked why he behaved the way he did, and he replied "I can't stand ordinary everyday life". It's a common thing especially among teenagers who get lots of fame and money without the age-related control and observation of later years.

In regards to the fans negativity, maybe if the criticism was taken constructively then we wouldn't be in this position.
Alot of fans have seen these situations before and the tell tale signs become far more obvious.

I get that, but then you get the outright bullying as in Luke Chadwick's case, where even the likes of Gary Lineker wasn't averse to mocking how he looked. We're living in a very public time where everyone knows everything about people, and it's producing some very cynical people. I've always believed it's how we treat others that truly defines who we are.
