As I said in another thread, last night's goal probably doesn't happen if Jay doesn't make a run that pulls a defender out of position. As much as our poor chance creation and crossing doesn't help us, people making intelligent runs into the box when there is a crossing chance is another weakness, so well done to Fulton for doing so on this occasion.

Also, I'll just leave this here apropos of nothing...

Grimes - 16 goals in 333 games
Fulton - 16 goals in 303 games
One of the above was a set piece and penalty taker.

Stuff like this doesn't help. If he only played well once every thirty to forty games do you seriously think that he'd still be here?

He's a capable player. Usually a solid six or seven out of ten. Occasionally an eight or nine, sometimes a four or five.
In this instance I think we are just going to have to agree to disagree. I have seen half time stats of games where despite us being on top in terms of territory and possession that Fulton has had less than half a dozen touches of the ball despite being a midfield player which is simply unforgiveable. Admittedly most of these instances were under Williams who was so tactically inept that he played more players out of position than in position so its no surprise players were often confused about where they should be and what they should be doing.

It's also extremely common for Fulton to come on as a sub and clumsily put himself about and get booked within minutes of coming onto the pitch.

Even if I use your own words "sometimes" is generally viewed as more frequently than "occasionally" which would tell me that we see more four to five out of time performances than we do eights or nines. That is arguing semantics though

No complaints here. As I said before it's only fair that a player gets praised if he deserves it and the same goes if they don't play well. He came in and did a good job last night. May it continue. And gets his send off at end of the season by the club. Maybe he will have another year with us. It's been reported he is very settled in Swansea and would be happy to take cut in wages like Naughton. As long as he is used the right way and doesn't hinder things then so be it.

And Fulton will have played many less minutes than Grimes.

Also apropos of nothing:
Leon Britton - Premier League - 149 games - 0 goals and 1 assist.

Of course he's settled in Swansea, no other club would have persevered with him for so long like Swansea did. He's had a bloody good living here for not doing an awful lot, particularly in the last 4 seasons. He's played in the Premiership and in the championship, and how many caps does he have for Scotland?

We gave Tommy Buttler and contract because he cracked a few jokes in the dressing room before games. Leon played in the Premier League and Championship with us, had less goals and assists than Fulton, and had the same number of international caps. I really think you've gone slightly overboard here.

I defense of Leon the style of play that we had suited him in a way that very few other clubs could ever provide. There was a reason why he left Sheffield United six months after joining them to come back to us

Please don't mention Leon and Fulton in the same sentence.

If i was in the club management, I’d prefer fans who respect the players. You can argue about his ability but as A blue collar worker on the field doing all the dirty work, he’s been a great servant with great attitude.
If I was in the club management I would tell the players to stop worrying about what the fans think, they are paid handsomely to train properly and do their job properly on match day. If they do that more often, they'll find there won't be many naysayers about.

I have a habit which annoys me (and maybe others) of repeating words in posts, so if I notice myself doing it I will substitute them for words with similar or identical meanings. "Occasionally" and "Sometimes" are perfect examples.

The point stands. If his good games were as infrequent as you claim he wouldn't have spent as long at this level as he has. He wouldn't have been as regular a pick for basically every manager he's had since he joined the club.

It's something I've noted elsewhere, but the only Swansea manager who has ever made a concerted effort to get rid of him was Russell Martin, and he's a complete fuckwit.
