Bobby Wales

Wales was brought in as a cheap punt who would be loaned out and than sold on for a profit. Basically a Kyle Joseph 2.0.

He's never had the trust of either manager or the higher ups in the club to be anything more then a 4th Choice ST for us (even Matos opting to use Widell at ST instead).

I don't think he was brought in as this long term understudy, just somebody that has some potential who they can loan out and see how he develops and worse case scenario we sell for a profit.
Who knows? Time will tell. Bold claim about trust of club and manager. I just hope he does well and we get him as an option.

Is it? Sheehan and Matos both played Cullen at ST ahead of him (who everybody can agree isn't a ST) and Matos even went as far as starting Widell at ST over him and stated multiple times he seems him as a better option there.

If being 4th Choice ST under 2 different managers and starting 0 games in both cups and league doesnt scream a lack of trust then I don't know what does.

I agree with the manager. It's like Sam Parker. Who knows, the manager like Sheehan may feel they are not or may never be ready. But know one really knows what the club thinks. Cullen, irrelevant if we like it or not and yes he is literally hot and cold, and no I'm not a fan... Brings alot more at present than Wales. Even if he isn't or doesn't play similar role. I could debate reasons and how this player hasn't had a chance etc. But time will tell 👌

Morgan Whittaker and Liam Cullen didn’t do any good on loan at Lincoln.

Do think Wales will go on a season long loan somewhere though.
A majority of players 1st loans tend to go poorly especially in January that's pretty normal. It's the 2nd loan where you start to understand what level they are/will be at.

Maybe in the summer we need to properly take our time and find the right club for him. A club like Huddersfield which only have ambitions of getting back to the championship and don't have the time nor patience to give a youngster a fair shot wasn't the best idea on our part.

I remember seeing teams like Barnsley and Rotherham mentioned at the time surely that would have been a more sensible move for all parties.

Both those side are looking at a relegation battle, not the best environment for a young player to be involved with.

Barnsley i would say could be a good fit
They score lots of goals under
Conner Hourihane ,
Games in hand on most teams don't see them in a relegation fight .
David McGoldrick with Tom Bradshaw there
2 good experienced pro's to learn from .

If Bobby Wales was seen as being anywhere near ready at this level he wouldn’t have been sent on loan when we have precisely one fit striker at the club. (i’m not including Cullen because the manager is not playing him as a striker).

He may be ready in the future or he may not. Impossible to tell.
