The RB situation-Key and Galbraith

I didn’t say he’s caught out of position by design, I said he’s not caught out of position because it suggests he’s not supposed to be in the middle on a quick turnover, but he is.

Thats literally the point of his position, to be another 6 in possession, it’s why it works so well and a clear part of why we are going so well, that doesn’t change because Preston scored a goal.

Feel free to send Matos your advice on a better way to play the RB system that him and Liverpool have been playing for best part of a decade because Preston scored a single goal on a turnover though, I’m sure he will appreciate it 😂
I praised him for changing it because it didn't work first half Tuesday. I have raised this thread because of the change made by Matos and the improvement 2nd half.

Matos saw it, changed it and I applauded it. We need to be a bit more flexible on times with a Plan B and C and Matos implemented which shows that he won't stubbornly be rigid to something that isn't working.

I will repeat, Matos saw it and changed it....he was spot on 👌

I agree, it was a good mid-game tactical change for the reasons I outlined - but he’s also seen that we are better when Galbraith is at right back, which is why he plays him there weekly, and the same why Leyton Orient did the same.

The OP isn’t referencing the short term change, it’s referencing a long term change.

I’ve already shown you both teams results with him in CM and him at RB. A mid game change is a world of difference to a change in overall system and philosophy.

If you managed to supposedly watch that game 4 times and came to the conclusion that we created chances in the first half then I really dont know what to say.

Heckingbottom did a number on us first half all credit to him but Matos flipped the switch with his half time substitutions the and did a number on him in the 2nd half.

Maybe you should go and watch the game on line

4 mins in Ronald fouled Eom takes a free kick good delivery into the box gets put out fot a throw in Eom takes a long throw into the box none of our players can take adavantage.
Around the 5 min mark Eom crosses into tje box Ronald messes a chance to score.
We continue to domimate possesion and whilst Preston make the occasional foray into our half we keep them out until the 25min when they score...a couple of minutes later we break Franco crosses into tje box Eom fluffs a shot....there is more....gonback and watch it

Luckily you and I are giving our views from a forum and luckily we have Matos calling the shots on the playing staff.

That's all I can say 😬👍

Exactly right, it’s what these forums are for, idiots like us to talk tic-tacs. But also I think we have to recognise Matos is putting Galbraith at RB week in week out and our upturn since that has happened.

Doesn’t mean he shouldn’t change it in game now and again when it’s needed though.

We were terrible first half there was no pace and tempo .
Vp & Walta hardly had a kick .
Why do you think the fans were so quiet ?
There may have been a header from a free kick over the bar from Burgess just before half time . We were lucky not to be 2 down .
Most fans were glad to see half time so Matos could make changes .
Second half a different time missed 4 chances .

Seriously a throw in is classed as a chance now?

If we're using that logic then Preston had 17 throw ins to our 14 in the 1st half and had 6 corners to our 2.

Preston had higher xg, more shots in the box, more shots on target, more touches in the opposition box, completed more passes in the opposition half all in the 1st half.

This is my first time looking at the stats since the game and maybe I actually even underestimated just how much they dominated us. I knew it was bad at the time but not this bad.

But again credit to Matos his subs flipped this completley in the 2nd half.
