• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

The difference in willing runners and first time passing into space between Ipswich and us have been night and day
We looked quite tidy for the first 20 mins of that second half. We were moving it around well, but it doesn’t go anywhere. First attack they have, they score. Same old story.

Our spend was peanuts considering the state of the squad in pre season.

2025/26 - 45 points (-3 GD)
2024/25 - 41 points (-9 GD)
2023/24 - 42 points (-11 GD)
2022/23 - 43 points (-5 GD)
2021-22 - 45 points (-12 GD)
Our spend wasn't peanuts.

I remember when they was 5p. It's all about Heinze now 🤔😂
I watched a bean documentary the other day. Heinz are cutting corners so need to be avoided at £1.25 a tin. Branson are right up there too, mind. I like to get a tin of Heinz and mix them with bush"s beans. It's the ultimate beans day

Relative peanuts. It hasn’t even got us into the top half when we look at squad value relative to
others. Our squad was bare bones in the summer, 1 senior CB at the club. Our spend simply helped us to get to a point we could be competitive, it will take several windows to get us anything like competing towards the top 6.

It’s the position you finish that counts towards finishing positions but points will tell you how you have played in comparison to other years.

If you finish 10th on 60 points on year and another you finish 11th on 65 points. You have done better in the year you get 65 points regardless of position.
Would that apply if you get 50 points one season and get relegated but stayed in the league with 46 points the previous?

We’ll agree to disagree on that.

You’re playing different teams in different seasons so the strength of the league changes. You could say the same about position I guess, but what never changes is that top 2 gets you promoted, top 6 in the playoffs and bottom 3 are relegated irrespective of how many points you get.

Give me 6th on 70 points as opposed to 7th/8th/9th on 75 points every day of the week.

Yes.

Finishing in the relegation places would be more impactful to your club, but you would have done better amassing 50 points than the 46 you survived with the year before.

But points is the strongest predictor of where you finish. The aim of football is to win games and get points, the more you get the better you are.

Once you start looking at positions over points then you move away from how good you are and start taking into consideration results elsewhere.

It’s like saying Vipotnik scores 25 this season, but doesn’t win the golden boot. You think he has a better season next year if he scored 13 and does win the golden boot.

There needs to be several improvements in places if we think it will take several windows to compete to that level.
