Can you name a single steel erecting firm, or construction outfit (You cant store 60 ft lengths of RSJ in the attic!) that is currently working from home? Has a sick note culture? Where incompetence gets rewarded with golden hand-shakes? And where idiots can get promoted way above their level? And where obscene money waste is not an issue? And where profit and loss does not matter?

"The private sector isn't so different"..... LOL!!!!

How would you propose someone in the construction industry world work from home? Virtual brick laying.....

I worked in banking and insurance for 30 years for big blue chips up to board level and saw exactly the same issues. The private sector isn't so different. It just pretends it is. Politics always gets in the way, one way or another.
I should have been more specific and said my sector of the private sector, but even in manufacturing different worlds exist. I have a good mate who works in a similar role and a similar sized company. They make medical products where 30% goes straight into the scrap bin. Nobody is really bothered as the margins on the 70% more than cover the losses. The culture is very much ‘it’s ok’. In my world you’re one bad product launch away from the door and if a headlamp cluster line runs at less than 99.5% FTQ then people are feeling the heat.

The actual fuck are you wittering on about now, Roger Irrelevant?

One of the lecturers turned up late for my daughters graduation last summer and wasn't allowed in to the ceremony and he thought it was hilarious that he didn't have the decent to make the venue on time to celebrate what was one of the proudest days of their young lives.
I was talking to one of the course tutors at an open day and asked him how long he had been running the course. His answer was five years on and off, but what he meant by the off part was that he had another job and did this when he had time. When I went back with my ‘hang on a minute’ quizzing, he was quite blasé about this set up. We moved on quickly. Nine fucking grand a year course fees and this guy was doing it in his spare time!

Coops, that's just the start of it.

My daughter has just finished her architecture degree and didn't have one lecture. They were given a brief and more or less told to go off and research it themselves.

I absolutely despise bad value for money and rip offs; I get extremely angry when I see it. This is one of those examples and I probably wouldn’t let it pass without a formal complaint. Truly shocking.

Same here, can't stand being ripped off.

We didn't know this until she had graduated, I was lost for words. The good thing is she achieved what she needed and has since found work relating to her degree. If we'd know at the time, I probably would have questioned what exactly she was getting in to debt for

My son was at Bournemouth during COVID and the way that was handled was appalling. I've noticed that some Uni's are getting sued by students.

You really are an idiot that needs everything spelled out for you aren’t you LOL!!!

A steel erecting firm is exactly like the NHS, obviously.

F***ing hell.

Oh, more face to face contact time and more effort from (some) academics. No problem with that. Many students also put in inadequate effort and fail to take advantage of the availed contact time that does exist. I can’t agree the university experience nor most of the programmes aren’t of value. Whether that is of sufficient value for many is increasingly questionable and I think the blurred lines of everything being a ‘university’ and student fees and accommodation is at the root of that. Students seem to be seen as a ‘dripping roast’ now and some universities seem to be in a different business to education.

Delusion is strong within Reform.

Battered in Caerphilly and now Gorton & Denton yet they're still on to win the next GE 🤣

Reform haven’t yet cottoned on to the fact that a greater percentage of the population despise them so much they will vote for whoever will beat them than will vote for them.

Swings become irrelevant.

And opinion polls can’t take the tactical vote into consideration so consistently over value Reform. Which is why they poll well and get humped when it comes down to it.

Well the proof will be after Welsh government and council elections. Bookmark it, so that you can gloat if proven to be correct. So its an upcoming nightmare for Reform then?

The proof will be after the next general election given that’s what Zia Yusuf (and you) are talking about.
