Melker Widell

Melker does seem like a good egg and works hard, but looks lacking in quality in the final third and has not made a big impact. He is about to turn 24 so is not a really young prospect. May be a useful squad player but if we can get our money back, it would not be the worst thing. I do not think that is unfair as we approach 18 months since he signed and 12 since he could play. He definitely does not look like a player who was worth waiting for.

Walta has had flashes and looks like he is going to be closer to what we need from that position around the opponents box. I think he should start games going forward to try and speed up his adaption for next season. Hopefully he scores a few goals, creates a few more to push the Vipotnik fee even higher and can be feeling confident at this level come August to hit the ground running.
Don't write him off just yet, the lad is adapting to a new league and country, he'll come good eventually 🫶🏼

Players peak around 27-28 I don't see how turning 24 makes you a lame horse, especially when adapting to a new league. He's got plenty more to show imo. People really are too quick to make judgements. Even if he does only end up being a squad player he is a fantastic player to have for that.

Have we learned nothing from Guehi's loan here? He wasn't much cop in the first 6 months.
But he adapted, learned & was then one of our best players.
never write off a player too soon.

It is more if we can get our money back I would do that and prioritise giving minutes to somebody like Walta. Some players do adapt and improve, see Vipotnik. Some do not, see Eom, Ronald and Franco. We can not give every player we sign a second season of guaranteed chances in the assumption they will drastically improve. We have lots of squad players already - Cullen, Eom, Ronald, Franco, Inoussa - we need players who improve the starting team and become stars for us like Tymon, Vipotnik and hopefully Stamenic, Galbraith and Walta.

Guehi was a teenager and much more highly rated.

You certainly have some hot takes. All I can say is I'm glad you and some of the other posters on here aren't making any decisions at the club. We'd have no players left with all the people you'd consign to the unwanted pile.

Being willing to accept the same amount we paid, is not consigning a player to the unwanted pile. I do not understand the sensitivity and why people go over the top on any post on here that is not just happy clappy every player is perfect and will become amazing propaganda. I would not loan him out or accept a low fee for him.

"If we can get our money back, it would not be the worst thing" is a fairly benign opinion being treated as heresy or wanting to release half our team.

Wanting to sell a player with bags of ability after 7 months is an odd take on things.

You spoilt it really by adding Franco to your dud list. You’re never going to have a team of Galbraith’s (or Alan Tates unfortunately).

What is Widdy boy being asked to do by the manager? Obviously I don’t know whether he’s following orders but he’s a terrier, breaking play up and getting the ball moving. Same as Franco. Now should we have two player like that in midfield, probably not and when we get a decent RB and Galbraith is moved into his proper position I do t suppose we will play with the two terriers.

Score a hat trick every game by the sounds of it.

I do not think he has bags of ability and do not think he has shown that. He seems like an average Championship midfielder, who works hard. Not a problem to have in the squad but not a player you need to desperately hold on to.

Not much difference to Ronald or Eom. It would be interesting to see how many people want to sell them this summer. Maybe I am in the minority but I would keep Ronald as we do not have depth in his position.
