Melker Widell

Expand on this, because I can see a discussion about a player. Anything in particular you see as jumping down a throat?
Yeah I would like an explanation on this. It seems a common tactic on here to throw out negative comments, then accuse people of underhand or bullying tactics when they have the temerity to disagree with them.

If people are that sensitive to having their views critically judged maybe they should try being less critical in their posts.

Do you honestly think it's reasonable to question a players ability after 7 months?

If you can stick to this principle consistently then fair enough. I think it is rare to hold judgement on anything for 12-18 months.

I've been around these forums long enough that I'm used to it happening after 7 minutes, let alone 7 months...

In all seriousness, I think it's fine to question their ability after 7 months as long as you're keeping an open mind and aren't entrenching yourself in a position. It's reasonable to suggest there's a chance Widdell could be more of an Eom than a Vipotnik, although as I've already said, I don't think we can make any definitive judgements yet.

As for NJ's post, I'd say there's posts that argue the opposite to tardylum (which is of course fine), then a quick move to mocking the poster for daring to express a mildly negative opinion, Flash being the worst culprit in this thread.

The likes of Cullen, Key, Ronald are given a far harder time by many more posters and while plenty of us defend them, I don't see the outright hostility shown to those posts as opposed to any claiming the more recent transfer activity is anything less than perfection.

To copy NJ's approach, what posts are hanging him out to dry?
Melker does seem like a good egg and works hard, but looks lacking in quality in the final third and has not made a big impact. He is about to turn 24 so is not a really young prospect. May be a useful squad player but if we can get our money back, it would not be the worst thing. I do not think that is unfair as we approach 18 months since he signed and 12 since he could play. He definitely does not look like a player who was worth waiting for.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

If you’re going to single me out yes I made a post in jest to highlight how silly it is to write off a player early. Is that outright hostility? I don’t think so, but maybe we have a different definition of hostility. If I offended tardylum then I of course would apologise for that but that was not my intention.

Did not offend me at all. Came across a bit sensitive and hyperbolic but nothing rude or offensive.

Tbf, 18 months since he signed is irrelevant, he didn't arrive til summer and barely got a look in under Sheezy, let's wait till season end before making an assessment, give the lad a break
