pluss lack of urgency...considering how important a game it was.
Too many similar central midfielders and we don't have that creative or even winger with pace to supply VIP or turn a backline.

Widell brings energy but still not bringing that creativity to the table.

That ref was an embarrassment, how he didn’t give a penalty I’ll never know, I don’t like VAR but that would have been nailed on in the Prem…scandalous decision, if it had been at the Liberty I bet we’d have got it.

Should have been 2-0 up before they even had a sniff.
Ref "missed" two penalties.

As soon as they scored they just stuck 11 men behind the ball and we just aren't equipped to break that down yet.

I'm not a big Cullen fan and sticking him on the wing completely killed us second half. I understand the thinking but we needed to stretch them and get in behind the wing backs and Cullen is not the player to do any of that.
So what was the thinking behind putting Cullen on the wing? Because I'm f**ked if i can fathom it out.

It was those type of decisions that made me want technology to be brought in, but having seen how badly it’s been implemented I think I’d rather live with not getting those decisions knowing that by and large they even out over the course of a season at tier 2 or below.

I said before it started ‘ if we approach the game with energy and endeavour, I’m happy.’

Sadly we didn’t. We played with an ‘we’ll beat these’ attitude that is frankly unwarranted. A few of ours think they’re better than they are.

Most annoying game for ages. I mean we’ve been routinely bad away from home with the odd exception but tonight we looked like we wanted it less than they did. And that’s not good enough.

We have a few weaknesses that need sorting for next year. Finding any winger that can cross a ball would be a start. Or anyone that can take a corner or free kick without it hitting their first defender.
The one that EOM put straight into the keepers gloves tested my resolve to keep my heart rate low.

I think the idea was to try and get someone closer to Vipotnik and use Key as the width up against their wing back.

Clearly it didn’t work though as Mantos saw by changing it 15 mins later.

No need to panic, can see the signs of Matos doing a good job and putting an effective team together.

Idah, Yalcouye, Widdell, Walta, Nunes, Benson and Inoussa have all barely had an impact on the team so far this season and that must be £20m and rising between them. That is all the new attacking talent we signed. It is clearly hindering Matos and limiting how much he can get out of the side and taking advantage of the moments we dominate. Vipotnik can not be responsible for every goal.

The lack of impact from the players above is a big concern, but a slight concern is how mediocre the central defenders have been. I could be talked in to wanting an upgrade on both, Ben has been a great servant but he is limited. In the next two months it feels like it would be wise to have Walta and Widell playing as much as possible to make it easier for them to hit the ground running next season.

What a gem Ethan Galbraith is, it is great to have him back in midfield.

We go again.
Im yet to see anything from Walta which gives me any sort of hope to be brutally honest.

Matos seems to think the same aswell which is worrying.

I've said it before but if our model is to buy young from foreign leagues we have to give the players time to settle.

Players like Inoussa, Yalcouye and Widell have cumulatively played around just 3,000 minutes in one of the most physically demanding leagues in the world. None of them have had a run of games where they start and are allowed to grow into the league.

If they are in the same position at the end of next season then fair enough; but to judge early 20s players, in a new country, in a new league on about 11 games worth of minutes is a bit early.

Feel like we’re on the right path with the right manager. We have to remember that Wrexham have bought and continue to buy players who are Championship ready because they have the ability to do that (although not all of those played tonight). We have looked further afield in our recruitment and that is what has made the difference tonight. Our attackers don’t contribute enough and the gambles haven’t payed off. I’m not saying we need to sign journeymen but it is what has helped Wrexham win this evening. If you’re going to recruit from more niche markets, you have to get a few more hits than we have done. Our midfield recruitment was great in the summer, we need to apply that to other areas of the team.

Fine margins, could have been 2-0 either way. Burned out again on 60 mins and ultimately undone by our own profligacy, the end product from our wingers was not good enough as per.
But still lots of positives for me. I like how we’re playing and how we’re shaping up.

I fear that we're going to have to put up with this circus for at least another year in the Championship.
I don't see them going up but they'll spend big in the summer and be one of the favourites next season.

Yep. He’s normally ok from there as well.

Ronald was his usual.

Nunes didn’t look much better tbh.

I’m unconvinced by a few. Widell flatters to deceive. As does Yalcouye. And if vipotnik is not scoring everything that comes his way we have zero chance. I mean that chance for Franco at the start sums it up. We have to be scoring those. Because the opposition always are.
