They absolutely were the target, finished same position in the table and 3 points better off than last season. Sure the owners were expecting more considering the outlay in the summer . It's been another disappointing season, with not even a sniff of reaching the play offs.I thought close season playoffs were the goal and we've fallen short I don't want to be negative because there's a good vibe at the moment and long may it continue!
Yes, on goal difference, but still 11th. If we had finished 7th on goal difference would we be in the play offs?On goal difference.

What makes you think that? Nowhere at the start of the season were there talks of play offs by the club, that was always just wishful thinking by the fans. In fact Sheehan was always saying this is the beginning of a project. They absolutely were the target, finished same position in the table and 3 points better off than last season. Is that the same project we started when we appointed Russell Martin? 4 seasons later we are still in the same position. Unless you can hold on to your better players to build a team around ( and generally we haven't, Piroe , Downes, Ntcham, Wood, James, to name a few) then mid table it will always be.What makes you think that? Correct. Plus the reason for the higher than usual spend was the team had to be rebuilt. Its paid off not only by the increased value of some of those new players SHOULD they be moved on but we now have a solid base to build on. We will not need such an overhaul this year. We have gained some real talent and I am looking forward to what comes next. What makes you think that? In fairness, you don’t always have to hold on to your best players to progress, you just have to know how to spend the money you receive. Brentford let Ollie Watkins and Benrahma go in the same window and got promoted in the season after. Coventry have lost Gyokeres, Hamer, Sheaf but have built a team that just won the division. Is that the same project we started when we appointed Russell Martin? 4 seasons later we are still in the same position. We can’t hold on to our better players if we get good offers for them. The recent accounts show that we have to buy low and sell high or we’ll eventually face a points deduction because Swansea City operates at a loss like pretty much every Championship club.Is that the same project we started when we appointed Russell Martin? 4 seasons later we are still in the same position. I agree , it can work the other way , Brentford and Coventry are fine examples. On the flip side of that there's Bristol City and the likes, been planning for the Premier League for what seems an eternity and are still nowhere near it. There's Leeds( James and Piroe) Coventry ( Grimes , Bidwell and Lati) and Southampton ( Manning, Wood and Downes) that's 8 of our ex players in 3 teams in and around the Premier league . While i know a lot move for increased wages they also may have seen those clubs as being more ambitious than us . If , as a club, you don't show ambition to progress then good players are always going to go elsewhere. In fairness, you don’t always have to hold on to your best players to progress, you just have to know how to spend the money you receive. Don’t think it’s the same project as Russell Martin because we have different majority shareholders now who actually want to keep or get good value for our players.
If we’re calling it a project then this was year one.
100% agree, I just wouldn’t view us as the same club that let a lot of those players leave. Much of that was under Kaplan & Levien. While the “new” guys were involved with K&L, they’ve at least shown some ambition by wanting to do commercial deals to increase revenue and opening The Swansea Jack alongside that new fanzone that’ll be happening. They’re also offering players longer deals so we can negotiate new ones in more time or sell on before they reach the final year. We may not get it right under this ownership but there has been a change in operating that signals (to me at least) more ambition.I agree , it can work the other way , Brentford and Coventry are fine examples.
