New Manager

I don't think he's the best man for the job. He has certainly galvanised the players since the Tit has gone. Some of his stuff is excellent. The tactics for first half v Boro being the most obvious. Must have watched them and brilliantly employed a high press. However, changed the second half tactics to sit back and let them come on to us. Very silly imo.
The biggest thing, however, is I don't think he wants the main job. He appears to relish being second fiddle and being more hands on. I think he'd like to be the Brian Kidd to Ferguson with whomever we get.

Good presser from Sheehan again today, sounds like we will definitely find out what’s happening after these two games, he pretty much ruled himself out taking it till the end of the season so interesting couple of weeks coming up.

It was a fair point he made about the fact we've lost 3 members of the first team coaching set-up, so they're low on numbers to go to the end of the season like that. But I think other clubs manage in similar scenarios, so who knows.

He come across way more confident in this presser, wonder what’s going to happen, because Richard said he wanted a possession focused manager which Sheehan isn’t going to be.

This is the

I don't think anyone can argue with your second sentence there.

What I don't want to happen is what happened with Monk. Jenkins said they hadn't made a decision before the end of the season and conducted a full search before appointing him, which was clearly bollocks.

Also, I haven't gone back through the thread, but I'm fairly sure there are at least a few posters advocating 'give it to Sheezy' already.
I’ve not seen anyone say give him the job now, if they have I’ve not registered it. That goes for on Twitter as well.

Trying to force their hand and give it to him permanent?

Not seen the presser yet .

For me the press conference said. I have proven myself to you. And I want the job so that I can start planning for the future. Personally, I think he is too ambitious to stay with us if not given the role. I think if we get 2 good results now he will get it. If not, then he will leave in summer to coach somewhere. Maybe I'm reading to much into it.

Yeah it came across like that. But he did it the right way. You can see he wants the position, but won't be treated as an experiment till End of season. It's now or never. I suppose he'll have to get 2 good results to help his cause.

Good call. I think if he keeps performing well and he doesn't get the role he will move on at some point. He is playing down things in relation to wanting the role, but he knows like all of us he has to prove it and what is best. It's really difficult one to call. Some great comments on here. Honest I couldn't call it. But at this time I would take him. Would I say this is we was still losing all the time and performance wasn't there?? But it's more to it than that. Anyone who can turn around Williams destruction and keeping the ship on the water is right for me.
If he doesn’t get the gig, either through the board choosing someone else or him deciding conditions/ambitions at the club don’t match his own, I very much doubt that he’ll be around next season to pick up the pieces (again) if things go south.

Agreed. The more I think about it the more I say give him the job. I would rather him in the job than someone we pay for for next 3 years and is seen as next big thing to end up failing and Sheehan going. knowone knows if there is a diamond in the rough out there? And it's all a gamble. We could get a new manager and it will be best call ever. I know history has said we have not had great with recent hires so realistically we have to have trust in new team who is looking? Personally why risk it? We might lose next 4 games, I don't know. But let's get through next 2 games and assess

Hardly surprising, he worked wonders with Southampton in the premier league.

How anyone can take this fella seriously with his track record is beyond me.
A glance at Twitter last night was embarrassing how some of ours still fawn over him despite his complete failure here and with the Saints. As a sometimes poster on here says “it’s a cult”.
