We finished where we did because of a strong finish including some dead rubber games. 7 points off the play offs, 12 points off the relegation places. Had we lost won of the last games we won we would have been nearer the latter than the former.

Much the same as the second season under Russell Martin we got closer than we probably should have after a dreadful season. The previous windows were dreadful, just look at how many players are still here for the evidence
Ground breaking that Pip, to summarise if we lost more games we would have had less points. I'll counter that by saying if we had won more we would have had more points 😜

That wasn't quite the point but its very true 🤣

The point really was that the quote "we almost made the play offs" last season gets used a bit and its simply not true. Not even close.

Agree with you Phil. A piece of paper says we missed the playoffs by two wins.
Reality is very, very different.
The December (?) defeat to Portsmouth had us going down & forced us to change.
Saying we finished within two wins of the payoffs does not cover up a largely horrific season.

Playing when there is no pressure on you is entirely different to knowing you have to win every game to keep pace with the rest of the promotion/playoff pack. Its an entirely different mentality and none of our existing squad has experienced that before with the Swans with the exception of Jay Fulton (loath as I am to admit it)

The only other player in the squad with experience getting promoted out of the Championship is Burgess.

Interesting links to Dele Alli.

Could be a great signing in theory but all the evidence suggests that he's a lost cause, unfortunately

Benson ?

How much has Benson actually played in the last 2 seasons?..no doubting his talent but injuries and no game time for a good while will we be expecting too much

Indeed. We were looking over a shoulder until the last 2 weeks, after a good run in form

He has the talent undoubtedly but he hasn't displayed it for 5 years or so.
I was at White Hart Lane for his disgraceful dive against us & still haven't forgiven him!!
No thanks
