Posted this in another thread but I think for every example of a failure there is one of success.

Le Bris, Wagner, Farke, all names that most of their respective fanbase wouldn’t have been familiar with but went on to find success.

It’s a gamble whoever we appoint for me.

It just feels to me like another potential appointment made off the back of fancy stats and heatmaps, like with Martin and Williams. We're taking a risk on a coach whose numbers may stand up to a certain extent but, crucially, at an inferior standard to the division we're in.

Look at Tim Walter and Johannes Thorup from last season - parachuted in from nowhere, struggled, got sacked. Going back a bit further you had Duff with us. Bulut at Cardiff came with the sort of narrative now surrounding Hellberg, but we know how that ended.

Sorry to put a downer on things but to me, it just feels like an enormous and unnecessary risk of making the same mistakes we've made previously.

A few said his attacking numbers were excellent but not the defence. I have heard though that Norwich didn’t have the best defenders that season.

Will Still is another that I think will succeed elsewhere.

Clearly we dropped a huge clanger in the summer by not hiring Hellberg. Based on how it is playing out, it seems like the club are admitting they messed up by going with Sheehan. It seems to have caused a lot of internal strife that could have been avoided but at least they are trying to fix things now and are willing to backtrack.

I do worry about coaches who need time to implement their ideas, which is why ideally he would have been in the door in May. However, performances had dropped to such a low level that I am not sure it can get much worse with this squad of players even if there is an adaption period. Famous last words that I hope I do not regret, but it is not like we can create negative goalscoring chances?

If it is to be Hellberg, it will represent a big throw of the dice. The club can't afford to get it wrong. We may well see the best of this manager next season; hopefully, it will be in the Championship.

That's why I keep saying Wagner should be the choice. Proven at every club and successful both time in the Championship

Not for me, loses more games than he wins if you look at his record overall.

It definitely takes a bit of pressure of Hellberg now (if it is him), especially after fans seeing how useless Sheehan was.

He doesn't have an eternity to get his ideas across but he has more time than if he was appointed in the summer where people would have been on his back because of Sheehan good end to last season.

Just to sound a word of caution just watched the Hammarby v Elfsbourg highlights on YT and though not a lot of the build up play featured I'd say quiet a bit of the HIF play seemed very much in the recent Swans mould but the defence and keeping of the opposition was shocking and even a Sheehan lead SCFC team would have buried them.

Just been looking at some of their highlights after reading Blackpool post.

They play some excellent football, quick and very fluid. They seem to play a solid 3 defenders with full backs pushing up from what I am watching.

Their right sided full back/wing back looks decent and that I'm impressed and hearing the name Paulos Abraham although he looks similar in style to Inoussa.

Not sure what the issue is with some posters about Hellberg? He seems on paper an exciting manager who has a lot more experience than what we have had in years and seems to be the opposite of Sheehan. One thing for sure, if he gets appointed, I can't see fans being bored of slow build up football. His stats for being an attacking football team is promising. Let's gamble, I rather do this than league one managers from last few years or play it safe with a championship manager.

Probably the fear of the unknown.

Who has said he wasn’t up to it? The only reason we didn’t bring him in the Summer is because we already had a successful coach in charge so why change it?

If we had the top scorer in the league last season would we sell him and bring in the top scorer in Sweden? Absolutely not.
Sheehan was on paper the top performing coach last year. We would have been mad to take the risk and change that

He wasn’t the answer then so why is he the answer now? Same old merry go round.
