DOF

Just catching up on this thread.
I've no idea in what context this was said by the owners so thanks Mamaswan for the info.
Maybe they'd had a few - maybe it was tongue in cheek? Either way, I don't see the harm in them having some confidence in themselves.
They won't get every transfer right, but I'm sure nearly every club in the division will be gutted how we managed to get Galbraith. He will go very high in this game, hopefully with us.

I never suggested it translated to instant success!

My view is that they can't be saying that(that's if they did because I don't know MS and he heard it off these people after a couple of sherbets) given their current league position and questions being asked with most of the summer recruits especially given the transfer fee involved with some.
I would be looking for a bit more modesty from them if it is what they said.
Quit with the snidey comments mate. "If they did". I can assure you they DID.

I have been polite until now. I would appreciate it if you afforded me the same.

My post was frivolous, I’d love it if we can achieve their ambition.

I would agree that there have been quite a few loan signings in the past that were questionable to say the least, but don’t think that can be levelled at the current crop (other than Benson). I do think that Casey, S-S and Yalcouye are playing the role they were signed for - decent quality back-up to the first team without committing ourselves to longer term contracts
Yalcouye came in with a big rep and it was considered a coup to get him at the time. There was no way he was signed to be back up.

You might be right, but having also signed Widell, Galbraith and Stamenic then they can’t all be first team regulars. Those 3 are also on permanent contracts, which is why I came to the conclusion I did.

Calm down! It was far from snidey.

Surely if you were on the other side, you would realise that i don't know you from Adam and a conversation with these people with alcohol would allow for a little bit of understanding that the owners or similar wouldn't say too much to a fan and a pinch of salt would be accompanied to it also.

As a Swansea fan for a good few years, I have seen and heard plenty of people talking a good game and many broken a promise. You can understand my caution especially if someone comes on a forum to say that they were told something in a pub.

We all would and clearly they have enthusiasm.
If they can get the building blocks right coupled with their enthusiasm and pro active approach then we could be onto something.
They won't get it done overnight, we will see a lot of changes but stability coupled with knowledge and experience will help these guys massively given we are at a level that punishes mistakes a lot more than further down the ladder.

Mate you often make snidey comments to me. "MamaSwan was taken in" or something along those lines was an earlier one. Then tell me to calm down 😆.

You sound young - so will cut you some slack but I think you sound the sort who would stop short saying those arsehole comments to my face as much as telling successful businessmen they are naive.

It might not suit you to believe what was said last Friday but I have nothing to gain by repeating it in response to YOUR thread. Tell you what, ask them yourselves at the next forum. I will hopefully be there too. Not missed one yet. I will buy you a pint if it turns out I am deluded, senile or deaf or all 3.

Right. You got a bite out of me. I did say I had finished with this discussion. 😆🤣

You can get taken in by something, doesn't mean that thing is false or incorrect.
I wouldn't expect to walk away from a forum with an answer from a question and take that has a cert or take it as gospel......as I said, I have heard plenty of talk and broken promises of someone so young(I am mid 40s by the way 😁)

I don't understand how this successful businessmen line is pulled out when it comes to running a football club....it's as if because they have been a success in their field that that it's a given that their calls on running a football club are just going to be an instant success also.

Conversations like the one in this post are constructive. Please, if you have anything to add then I would hope you contribute, I won't get offended if you disagree or pick faults in my view/opinion.....I have had enough battles with posters where I and they have been proven wrong.

We do need a DOF though that does what a DOF should do, one with experience in the game.

This is getting ridiculous now …..as usual on every thread these days posters seem to know the inside workings of the club as if they’re on the board - then the responses are quite nasty. This forum is becoming quite toxic as posters battle with each other to proclaim who knows the most. The mediator needs to step in and ban any posters that post personal abuse. Rant over.
