Santos was a terrible signing but at least they have realised that and moved him on quickly when the offer was there. If Casey is sent somewhere else it seems like we will be relying on another young loan player so hopefully we find somebody at the same level and the main pair stay healthy.
Yes, they realised it was a poor signing hence him moving on. He was a Sheehan choice so it makes sense him moving on given his lack of game time, experience at this level and age.
If Casey goes then I think having Ward as cover with his experience for the rest of the season will be fine although a need for a RB will be heightened.

A Newport fan I met over Xmas said they hate him, says he’s utter dogshit, so that surprises me.
Seen a few Newport games on the tv and went to see them playing at Colchester before Xmas. Ben Lloyd is a classic example of a youngster who has been left playing academy football for too long while County are a mess apart from on loan Braybrook from Leicester and at the moment are cast iron candidates for relegation.
Arguably he should never have gone out on loan to such a poor team as County where the skill factor throughout the squad is really poor but when a club (Swansea) who have nobody to keep in touch with their young or experienced players out on loan you are asking for trouble.

Unfortunately he is a very bad buy, simply not good enough. I don't buy into that he will get better, he's beyond improving. You can't coach him to shoot and cross at 23, by that age he has either got it or he ain't. I would even put him a few levels below Bianchini.
Time to get you eyes tested. There’s a very decent player in there who has had very little chance to play regularly. Ronald should have been dropped months ago - if you want to bang on about inconsistency then there’s the elephant in your room.

Eom has been completely rejuvenated under Matos - proving that Matos was definitely the right appointment in my eyes. You can’t judge such a young player as Inoussa on such a lack of a run of games. Ronald has been d*gsh*t for months but he always gets a free pass. We should be playing Inoussa on the right and Eom on the left. Let Ronald fight for his place.

The thing I think managers like about Ronald is his effort and commitment in tracking back, you can’t fault him for his lack of trying, but end product is terrible.

Yep I agree, although I think Ronald’s end product has improved slightly. Only slighty I think he’s fizzed two good crosses in and got an assist. Still difficult to watch when he gets close to the opposing box but at least he’s stopped falling over.

Fulton has also looked very good under Matos bar one game where he was asked to play further up. In the 6 role he looks good.

I said at the time it didn't make sense and I'm saying the same now.
Who's to know if deals fell through for defenders before we signed Burgess and Casey, if they didn't sign those 2 then they would have moved onto the next targets.

It was a silly signing.

I know you love a transfer and the idea of signing someone purely as backup/insurance/cup player doesn't get your motor running, but it doesn't mean it wasn't a sensible signing. If Santos hadn't got his unfortunate injury and had been able to play in the League Cup games, we'd have more of an idea if he was of the required standard or not.

I think you're aware that signing players is a bit more complicated than simply 'moving onto the next targets'.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

The only problem is Inoussa is awful on the right. He's clearly a LW and he's not going to get into the team over Eom atm.

Come back and read this post in a years time.

Agree with that.
It seems to be a given that it's going to happen. I would certainly be a bit more cautious in my approach to defending a player down the line given it's not granted they will get better or more consistent.
You can only really base it on the here and now.

Yeah but you shouldn’t just write players off without giving them a chance to adapt and grow in to the league. A lot of these players are young and still learning. With the right coaching they’ve all got potential to be better.

Yes, I agree they could just as easily get better or even just more consistent which is huge in itself in football.
