I think that’s what puts the emphasis on the sporting project being a good one. Good players will come here if we’re competitive and look like a club on the up. Coventry isn’t one of the premier destinations in the UK but plenty of decent players have joined them recently including our captain. Money will always factor in of course, but people will want to join you if you’re successful and doing well.Loads of players would rather stay in or around London / Manchester / Liverpool. Let’s be honest other than our beaches and scenery (which we appreciate) what is there for young players with a few bob burning an hole in their pockets? Let’s not kid ourselves that the area is attractive in that sense.
I suppose that’s my point. Our recruitment and ownership seem to want to be ambitious but we don’t match that ambition at the moment. We have to change the perception of us as mid-table fodder for us to be in the conversation for the players we’re targeting. You need to target realistic players, all well and good that we went for this guy or that but if it's not realistic it just wastes time and effort.
Some of the names mentioned over the summer were just totally out of our reach despite stories stating we had a chance.
Sakyi was realistic but just didn't fancy us as a club.
Totally agree in that success will attract some of those on the fence, but there’ll still be plenty who turn their noses up at us. Even Coventry will be more attractive than us to some, being a short hop from Birmingham.I think that’s what puts the emphasis on the sporting project being a good one. Got to have someone coming in if that's case. I think a loan is sensible for his development
Maybe Cullen is seen as back up with Idah out?Got to have someone coming in if that's case. I think a loan is sensible for his development
By the sounds of Matos press conference he didn't really fancy Cullen as a ST so I hope that's not the case.Maybe Cullen is seen as back up with Idah out?
It’s definitely a factor. Loads of players who come here end up loving it and staying. but getting them here initially will always be always be a challenge.Loads of players would rather stay in or around London / Manchester / Liverpool. Good move for him, I think he'll do quite well in league one getting games every week.Casey gone to Leyton Orient on loan
This was our downfall in the prem as well. Missed out on some very big players for this reason.Loads of players would rather stay in or around London / Manchester / Liverpool. Odd one for me. Yes your right he'll get game time. But 2 leagues below his own club? Well the way West Ham are going they will end up in the championship, so I would of got him into another championship club.Good move for him, I think he'll do quite well in league one getting games every week.
I’ve liked him and wouldn’t have been worried if he’d played more, but I guess there were no Championship clubs that would guarantee him any more game time than with us.Odd one for me. Yes your right he'll get game time. But 2 leagues below his own club? Well the way West Ham are going they will end up in the championship, so I would have got him into another championship club.
He had a championship club and couldn't get enough minutes. L1 is his level at the momentOdd one for me. Yes your right he'll get game time. But 2 leagues below his own club? Well the way West Ham are going they will end up in the championship, so I would of got him into another championship club.
