He’s improved massively as the season has gone on, there’s an incredible player waiting to happen one he gains experience and composure.
Personally I hope for a Guehi style extended loan as next season he will go up another few levels, but probably won’t feature for Brighton yet. Wishful thinking perhaps but we’d be daft not to look into the possibility….
However, in Matos we trust and I’m just a fan, I trust his opinion on professional football more than mine!

Nice problem to have. I have a sense that Galbraith or Stamenic will be sold as that is the business model and Malik has all the makings of a star player.

Only 7 starts all season, just 2 under Matos. I think my only critique of Matos so far is his aversion to using Yalcouye as anything other than an impact sub. He was the best player on the pitch yesterday, and has to start against Ipswich
I was wondering the same thing as I was driving home last night. I think he’s being managed by a guy who knows a lot about young players’ development, plus he’s a loanee. I think we’ll see the same with Walta who also needs time. Yalcouye has close control and quick feet the like of which we haven’t seen since Leon imo. Maybe a £4 million bid and a sell on clause might get him, I’d like to see it especially with the subtle transfer noise around Galbraith.

He looks a brilliant player I think someone who’d benefit from a run of games for sure, only issue I have is he can hold on to the ball for too long and get caught out, and he should have buried that chance last night.

Would love to keep or dare I say buy Yalcouye. I understand to some extent why Matos hasn't started him alot, his physical side of the game has been questionable. But he really does add creativity to the midfield. I just don't see Matos pushing him ahead of Widell as he is on a loan. I would like for him to start on Saturday but imagine Widell will. But need Galbraith pushed into midfield and Ward in RB. Key for Ronald.

Realistically if you were Brighton you wouldn't be sending him back here. What experience has he gained in 7 starts? Not much really. Probably do a Rushworth with him , and send him to a better championship club that will probably be challenging for promotion.

He was the best player on the pitch by a mile. It reminded me of Jan Molby being head and shoulders above everyone. It was good to see the players actually looking for him to pass the ball. Wish he had put the ball in the net as the timing was perfect for us to win the game.

That is the potential outcome, but if they’ve been watching his development keenly it may be noted that he’s likely to get more game time with us next season if he continues to stand out. Our competitors will have made note of him

Yalcoure is 20 years old
He's been involved in 21 games
I would say Brighton will be happy with his game time .
With the coaches Joey & Leon plus Matos managing his game time he will be learning all the time .
Watching him play you can see improvement in his play .

I think our best midfield has Yalcouye in it, but he's probably not going to be here next season. We're unlikely to go up or down, so should we focus on playing the midfielders more likely to be here next season?

No offence to the players who started, but the difference in the second half in midfield was stark. In Galbraith we had a player who actually played line breaking passes, setting up so many attacking moves. While Yalcouye was willing to drive with the ball and took up intelligent positions to receive passes. Those two combined with Franco's massive work rate made a great trio.

If only Yalcouye had the confidence to shoot first time from Vipotnik's sublime pass rather than take a touch and give Cornell the chance to close him down, I firmly believe we'd have won that game. Still a superb performance from him though.

Yalcouye gives me the jitters every time he gets possession in his own half, prone to wanting too much time on the ball and subsequently giving possession away.

Undoubtedly talented but a million miles away from being a regular in the Premier League, another season on loan and he’ll definitely go back a better player.

I thought all three subs at half time did well
Nunes was a constant threat .
The ability to go past defenders crosses with his left foot , drifts in to the inside left channel.
Came up with cross for Cullen to score .
What a difference having such a good squad unlike so many seasons previously.
