• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

What I’m unsure about is whether or not they really want a Director of Football. They got rid of Montague and seemingly were content to have Gorringe and Worth (and whoever else) doing the job but now they want a restructure?

We can only hope this is them realising the direction they want to go in and they’ll stick to it.

What experience does Rangel have to be Director of Football at a championship club? It would be a joke.

At least Michu is a DoF albeit pretty low level Spanish league.
None that I’m aware of.
Had a fantastic football career and currently managing Pontadawe kids team.

As I said, I think it’s as simple as new DoF sees responsibilities / roles in a certain way that was non negotiable to their appointment and Dimi didn’t want to work within that new structure.

It happens all the time. Nothing sinister needs to have happened even if it’s more ‘interesting’.

I imagine an appointment announcement will happen fairly soon.

One thing’s for certain. We have to stop pissing around with structures etc and make a decision and stick to it. It’s ludicrous how much we chop and change and must be costing us a small fortune.
He gave in that easy?
TBH I now see football in the same position as modern day poliitcs...I dont believe a word they say , and personally I have no idea who was resposible for signing who......and no i wasnt in the same room as Snoop dog.

Michu coming in wouldn’t be bonkers he has experience and knows the success the club will want, although 90% it wouldn’t happen and we will probably target someone with higher level experience I don’t think it’s mad he’d come in.

Didn’t he post teasing something Swans related months back? 🤷‍♂️

I remember something along those lines

We have had very little success with past DoFs/Sporting Directors let's face it. Leon. Mark Allen, Josh Marsh, Watson and Montague.

You only walk away from these situations if you have something to go to or if you are not happy with something.

Hmm. My thoughts are him and Gorringe stepped in when Montague fell short. They did two windows and club probably realised it was taking Gorringe from his main role. Or maybe he felt himself that he would rather deal with marketing. DoF would then come in to handle club business which would include recruitment. According to Indie theres no bad feeling and Worth is very well liked within the club. Hodges comments seem to back that up.
I just feel his role as a standalone recruitment bod will no longer exist under the new appointment. His LinkedIn post was quite a positive one I thought.

Just my thoughts. Could be miles off target.
Just looking forward to Saturday to be honest 😆.

As I said, he probably didn’t want to work within the new structure. Perhaps some of his responsibilities around strategy were being moved to the new DoF.

I see no sign of anything even slightly more sinister than that.
