Ronald may benefit from less attention if we have a more balanced level of quality in the team

I saw Govea at Sheffield Wed away the season before last, which was a terrible match (both sides were awful) and whilst it was only a cameo (20 mins or so) to me he looked absolutley nowhere near ready for the 1st team both physically and skill wise.

I appreciate that loans will play a part as they usually do but I feel uncomfortable with loans being the cover for the fullback positions, the reason I say this is because what's the point of a loan if they don't add to the team. I would rather our youngsters provide cover than a loan Also if...

The Goalscoring Myth: A 20 goal striker is not a "must" for success

The bottom line is we need to have a positive goal difference and if possible scoring 60+ goals. Who scores them not so important.

I'm not surprised he isn't really of Championship quality, hence why Derby have not come in for him, this despite the manager singing his praises last season !!

Err how about FB (both sides need cover). Then there is CB (we need at least 1 more). I would like a reserve GK who may actually keep Vigouroux on his toes and push for the position.

Season 25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Exeter City v Swansea City | Preseason Friendly | St James’ Park Exeter | 1pm (26.07.25)

Losing does matter, but not so much in pre-season. Progression is vital and the players need to see that progression so that they can believe.

Concgeve needs the opportunity to showcase whether or not he is ready for a place in the squad. Fulton @CB today maybe?

That would be a backwards step, for one thing he is 31 and another thing is that he has a worse scoring record than Jerry Yates.

    Summer Transfer Window

Galbraith is 24 and all his appearances have come at L1 and L2, plus he was in the Man Utd academy (so we'll known in Premier League circles). That tells me that he isn't Premier League quality already. He may well reach that level but if he was at that level then a Premier League team would...

Can't argue about Tymon's defending but he does offer plenty going forward and I thought he was much improved in his defending under Sheehan (can't say the same for Key). I also agree that Youth players need to be ready for first team football by the age of 21 (and involved fairly regulary...

    Summer Transfer Window

Yes no doubt he has. What happens if Franco, Widdel & EOM make up the central 3 or Congeve/Coterill make the step up, maybe we sign the Forest midfielder (or Fulton plays week in week out !!) and Galbraith does not nail down a midfield berth? Would you put Galbraith on the bench if he's a...

    Summer Transfer Window

Personally I wouldn't want to rely on Key as Tymon's back up, his defending is atrocious. Yes he was better when Williams left and stopped the stupid inverting, but he was still way below the level required for a top half Championship team (assuming that's our ambition). If Galbraith is half...

    Summer Transfer Window

To be fair some people on here are definately in the know, on one of the other non football threads (Dump of a city), it was deduced by yourself that I am loaded (I'm loaded fuck the peasants I think you said) because I don't like shops like B&M etc...

Interesting how many see Fulton. What I see is a decent pro with limitations but if used correctly then a good squad player. I think his partnership with Grimes was awful and he hasn't been utilsed well since Cooper left, although Sheehan may well get more from him as I think he seems like a...

    Summer Transfer Window

I beg to differ that he would score more in a better team. His major problem imo is that he does not create opportunities with his movement (which is quite ponderous), his knack of going behind the defenders means any cross coming his way has a good chance of being cleared and even if it's not...

    Summer Transfer Window

Or you could look at the fact he has finished 22nd, 39th, 10th & 44th in the Championship scoring charts over the past 4 years Jerry Yates scores around 1 in 4 (in the Championship) and is streaky when doing this, going long periods with no goals (he does not assist much either). He is not...

    Summer Transfer Window

Yates as backup is a retrograde step. He just isn't good enough teams he plays for finish in the bottom half of the Championship and flirt with or get relegated. Why do you think Derby are not chomping at the bit for him ?

    Summer Transfer Window

Bamford and Joseph likely to leave Leeds, which leaves Piroe as the only striker, so not surprising they are in for a number of different strikers
