    Sheehan On Borrowed Time?

I posted below on day one of the season. I also hoped that more signings would come before the end of the transfer window. They did in fairness. But in reality, it's def a case of lots of new names that mean diddly squat without quality (apart from Galbraith in the main). Actually "mid table...

    S25/26 | The Official MATCH Thread | Southampton 0 Swansea 0 | Att: 27,265 | 18th Oct | The EFL Championship | St Mary’s Stadium

You're so right on the going forward aim of the game, I still remember being entranced by my first winger idol Brian Evans. Always looked to beat his man . Today's stop, sideways and back stuff is so boring. Please give us some pace and decent crossing from the by-line for Vip

    I miss this era, immensely.

Like him or loathe him, Martinez was also a key part of that exciting second era. Can't airbrush him out.. I'll get my coat 😂

    I miss this era, immensely.

Yes. And some of us were fortunate to see the Toshack era also. Third time lucky eh, never say never.

    Ben Davies

Nice article this. A lot of us will remember his debut for the Swans. He stood out from day one. Well done Ben 👏 https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/oct/13/unflappable-indispensable-ben-davies-wales?CMP=share_btn_url

Nope 😊. But I'm happy for you to have had the last word hopefully on this topic. Let's leave it go now.. and roll on next weekend

Both are food in basic terms. Players and refs are humans in basic terms. Both make mistakes is all I'm saying. Some simple mistakes by both. Some horrendous mistakes by both. It's not all one way traffic for refs causing the most lost points.

Of course there's a legitimate comparison. Each is a human being. Each makes mistakes. And yes, a pint is in order and I hate international breaks 😂

But the point surely being missed is that players equally make the most basic of errors, leading to goals being conceded through poor defending or open goals being missed through a poor pass or skewed shot. Happens a lot. I'd love to know how many points are lost through player mistakes versus...

Of course officials make mistakes, like that one. But equally players make mistakes as well, when clearly they should have passed to create a stonewall goal, or whatever. Just share the blame out across refs and players is all I argue.

Are we really saying that Swansea City has more referee mistakes against us than other teams ?😂 Other teams could not possibly think they are hard done by ..could they ? 😂😂

Stop expecting perfection from us - top referee

Naive to think otherwise 😊 Fans don't see a neutral sporting contest; they see a battle where their tribe (their team) must win. Any decision against their team is seen as a personal affront and an injustice A fan's view of an incident is almost always filtered through their loyalty. A 50/50...

Just read any other fans forum and you get exactly the same view. Of course we're all blinkered and biased 😂.

You make some valid points, but I do think that, broadly, these things do even out over a 46 game season. There will be a refereeing mistake, likely a clear and obvious mistake, for every team over a year. But for say 44 or whatever other games, a team looking for promotion or seeking to...

For the sake of balance, here's Chat GPT giving an alternate view 😂 Part 1: Reasons Why Referees are Generally Good at Their Job 1. Rigorous Training and Selection: Becoming a top-level referee in England is an incredibly demanding process. It takes years of progression through the amateur...

Stop expecting perfection from us - top referee

A couple of extra points for this interesting debate First, impossible expectations. People don’t expect a striker to score every time they shoot, but for referees every decision needs to be correct. No one notices the things referees do right, but everyone remembers the errors. Secondly...

You can't compare tennis or cricket to football ! Footy refs have hundreds of decisions to make each game involving the actions of 22 players. Rugby refs also have far less cheating. Overall, refs do a decent job, they know the laws far far better than the average fan, who is biased anyway...
