Stuff like this doesn't help. If he only played well once every thirty to forty games do you seriously think that he'd still be here? He's a capable player. Usually a solid six or seven out of ten. Occasionally an eight or nine, sometimes a four or five.

Rangers have gone from a couple of points off the relegation zone to third place with the exact same players since Rohl took over. There can't be a more incompetent coach who has convinced a number of clubs to pay him lots of money to be sacked than Russy.

Always a much better player than his detractors will admit. As FoaJP alludes, he was often blamed entirely for what happened whenever he was paired with Captain Marvel. 300+ games for the club in the top two divisions of English football is worthy of a hell of a lot more respect than he gets...

This. I don't think he's been any worse than Cabango overall, but some shitty luck with OG's has painted a target on his back. Neither of them are as comfortable on the ball as for example Harry Darling was, but both are more than capable in an old school CB way.

It's been noticeable in a lot of recent games, even defeats, that the team is not getting rattled any more. After conceding one, we used to be wide open to conceding two, or three. The WBA game was a prime example of that. I don't think that would happen again now. A lot of it is confidence...

The January 2026 Transfer Window Thread

I wonder if, given the long term injury to Idah, whether a loan move for Piroe makes sense now. Not only to cover/provide competition for Vipi, but also because he's a more than capable #10 too, and we could use one of those.

He's not even the best midfielder to have played for us in the last calendar year.

No sense in bringing him back to sit on the bench. Leave him where he is to gain experience.

Indeed. I suspect that most people would like competition at RB, but it wouldn't be the end of the World if we didn't because we've got enough depth in the middle for Galbraith to continue there until the Summer if needs be. We've chopped and changed so much over recent years I think I'd...

For all the talk about how "sustainable" Brighton are, despite their activity in the transfer market they still owe their owner about £300m. They're a downturn in the gambling market away from problems. We were thoroughly sustainable until Huw started spending money that was no longer his own.

25 is optimistic. He'd need to be getting two or three clear cut chances per game on average to get near that and at the moment we just don't create that many openings. He's got 20 in him though, especially if the team around him keeps improving. Last season I estimated that he was capable of...

Tend to think more like this. Think he's more of a Pratley than a Leon.

    Credit Where it’s Due.

A lot of it depends on maintaining the interest that drives the commercial deals. A couple of years spent swimming in the mid table Championship mire will turn a lot of people off. So far they've basically had a story to tell each season. Finishing twelfth after a campaign of kick and rush won't...

    Some thoughts about the team

Spot on. We're also not helping them by taking so long to get the ball into areas where they can do damage. Defences have time to get set. If we can get the ball flowing through defence and the midfield a lot quicker they'll have more space to operate and hopefully be more effective.

    Idah

A lot of people put a lot of effort into criticising him last season and old habits are dying hard. His all round game is decent, as in fact it was last season too. He's scoring more goals, but he's also clearly a lot more confident. That's a massive thing for a forward. Most of his goals have...

If he hadn't had that perfectly legitimate goal against Brum ruled out, he'd currently be the joint second highest goal scorer in the division so far this season. With no penalties. For a club not exactly pulling up trees and creating a shedload of chances.

In fairness, many players have probably spent most of their recent careers being coached not to take risks in possession by the various Poundshop Pep's out there. Going to be a hard habit to break for a lot of them.

After some shocking early displays he is coming along nicely. I just wish he was a bit quicker in possession. Pass or run. Takes that split second too long too often.
