2023/24 Financial Statements

Why do you think they’re doing it, genuine question.

On the scale of it this is a relatively small investment which could potentially provide massive returns. £10-15m a season is not a huge amount to these guys. Tyler Morse not long ago spent nearly £300m on the BT tower in London.

I'd be surprised if there weren't certain tax advantages to it too.

If they have the personal wealth we're led to believe then owning a football club like ours is a plaything to these type of people.

That's a very good question. I guess that the owners hope that the possession-led playing model and data analysis recruitment will give us a competitive edge. That may be the case, but we're so far behind in other areas it's hard to see how we can seriously challenge for promotion.
I can't see any flaw in this strategy at all.

They’re very successful businessmen, they will be extremely cocky about their own abilities, and think they can make the club profitable. Same as all the other successful businessmen who have bought clubs. Some get lucky with a promotion to the big time, most don’t.

This lot will be the same as the last lot, the same as the next lot and the same as whoever comes after. They’re here to try and turn a profit.

What I'd like to know is what is their plan then? They want us to be profitable of course but how are they going to do that besides a 'data based approach'. Which is what the previous owners were doing anyway and certainly isn't a unique thing in the league now.

They could overspend to get the best staff available, but we've so far got 2 administrators from the lower leagues and 2 coaches from non league / unemployed.

They could perhaps upgrade the academy again (which wouldn't impact on PSR) which would allow us to sign the best youngsters, and give us the best chance of signing a Dan James again, but there seems to be no appetite to do so.

So besides maybe using a different player database tool? What is the plan?

Going away from the playing side.

They need to get their arses into gear in getting more people into the ground on matchday, get those corporate boxes filled again and get more sponsorship and re engage in the sponsors who walked away last summer as no approach was made by the club about getting back on board for this season.

They have to be more savvy in the merchandising at the club shop, retro tops need to be looked into given how successful the gulf top 30yr anniversary sales were.

They need to do much better on the non playing side aswell.

They don’t necessarily want us to be profitable, it’s more appropriate to say that they want to profit from the club. This means investing, growing and then selling for a return. How long they are prepared to wait for a return is anyone’s guess.

Be interesting to hear it broken down properly by Lisa when she sees this.

@lisa break it down in a manner that plebs like me can understand please.
The financial statements are not yet published on the companies house website, so until they are (which will be in the next few days) it’s impossible to comment. I will do once they are there.

I was just about to ask if he’s jealous. Cambridge, successful, qualified professional and non-exec, vs a total anonymous random whang.
Cambridge? Wash your mouth out…

lol.

Ignore the twerp - it’s like having a weird stalker.

Yes of course, but the more money the club loses, the more money they lose.

They'd have to plough money in to get promoted to allow them to sell, but we can't do that due to PSR.

So how they plan to do this is unclear.

I’m sure they have a cut off date for getting out of Dodge. In the meantime they keep looking for the magic formula, much like all Championship owners.
