Alan Sheehan on Watford | Press Conference

He doesn't like being in the spotlight
Not a pop. But can we get past the whole he isn't comfortable in spotlight. I think enough people keep saying this. But I really couldn't care less. He is getting results and comes across well. Not all of us have to be a Trump, aka, love own voice.

Just thought it was a strange thing to say considering his role albeit caretaker. If he does get offered the managers job it's probably not ideal for him. Maybe he's giving a clue he wants to stay as a coach.

Interesting point. I have watched it twice and I am getting he is keeping his cards close to his chest. I feel he wants the role, but wants to be told come after the next few games. And then get can plan for the future. Maybe he feels he has justified his stance and what he can bring. I get a feeling he will get the role if we get something from next 2 games. He clearly is ambitious and wants to coach, but wants answers.

I don't care if he's a shrinking violet! If he's respected by the players which we are led to believe he is, then I'm very happy to give him the rest of the season. In fact a new manager coming in b4 the season ends could be disastrous. So line up a few likely candidates, let Sheehan carry on with direction over the future of the club, players, playing style etc, and if it goes tits up then he'll have to stand down and a new man pick up the pieces.

So again if I am reading to much into his press conference, Sheehan is saying. Either hire me full time and let me build or find someone else after international break. Basically he says this, but doesn't hint if he will leave or stay. Will the higher ups, risk and put another coach inside the club take the other games after International or just say, look we can save money hiring Sheehan, he knows the place, has got something out of a team that was terrible at times under wiliams and has potential. It worth the shot. Players like Grimes pushed for Williams to come in and had lot of respect and that crumbled. Though I feel if this experiment did crumble it won't be the players down tools for Sheehan it will be his experience or how he deals with loses. We know how he deals with wins it's the other side we need to see, sadly.

My take is he wants the club to accept the way his style and ideas are as he isn’t going to be a possession coach, he wants guarantees over coaches he can bring in and transfers, he doesn’t want to have a failed first managerial stint and he certainly doesn’t want to feel mugged off by standing in until the season end to then end up leaving the club, one way or another will be interesting to see how this pans out given Mr Montagues comments of wanting a possession focused coach.

Also anyone find it weird it seems he’s only been chatting with Montague and not Coleman?

I'm only hearing rumours on here about Coleman and his position in the club. Maybe there is something to this, but usually irrelevant of what you think of other media outlets, no one has hinted or reported this. I just think it's the case Richard is doing the job he is hired to do and be the middle man. Sheehan wants the Job 100%. I can't see why he would settle to go back into a back staff role. As he has done his badges and has said he would like to coach. That's not someone who wants to be second fiddle.

Yeah he definitely wants to be number 1 but you can see he wants some assurances over certain things.

after watching his presser i think Mr Sheean knows what he wants and to be fair he clearly says people have been spoken to and wants what is best for the club, i would say if he was offered the position he wants people on side with a plan to improve the on field as well as off field situation and for me at least he is forward thinking
So its down to the board now

100%. Think he wants reassurance on a few things and the board will have to reassure him of those things.
