Last season was suspended when we had 9 games left following a draw with WBA. We were in 11th place on 53 points, 3 off the playoffs.

Interestingly all the top 6 positions were on fewer points than the current teams in promotion and play off places. Fulham in 3rd were 5 points worse off than we are now.

If there is any sort of reversion to the mean, we can expect the top teams (including us) to drop quite a few points between now and the finish.

Some swans fans seem to think that the likes of Watford, Brentford and Barnsley are going to win every game they have left, even the ones where they are playing each other. That simply wont happen.

What we do have is the experience of having "been there and done that" on a tight run in.

Strap yourselves in.

Looking at our run in I can't see us winning more than 5 of our 9. On that basis Watford despite a tough set of fixtures Would only need 4 wins and perhaps a couple of draws to put us out of contention. Our current form would suggest less wins but hey let's keep everthing crossed.

Watford only have 8 games. Us winning 5 out of 9 with a few draws may still be enough. Goal difference may be the key.

If it comes down to GD we will miss out, unless Watford stop scoring goals and prob lose 2 or 3 games by 3 goals or more. We need to beat them on points.

We only have scored more than 2 goals in a game twice all season, and one of those was in the FA Cup. We are not suddenly going to start winning games 4 or 5-0.

Trouble is Watford are already 6 points ahead of us 5 wins and a couple of draws would only give us a gap of 11points. Hence 4 wins would be enough for them our game against them may still have something on it.

The form we are currently in we'll be scraping into the play offs.
If by some minor miracle we can turn it round, then taking it to a winner takes all decider at Watford be the best we can hope for.

We need to win our game in hand over Watford, and then gain at least 1 point more than them before our final match. A tall order, but it's all to play for.

Don’t forget Hounslow Barcelona. They’ll be winning all their games. They said so.

And of course, they might...

They seem to have a decent run in too. All hail Sir Franck.

It’s like old times vying with Watford for those of us of a certain age...

Yes the Ross Jenkins days. Seemed about 7 foot tall.

Having bottled automatic promotion should Cooper be focussing on the play offs now by giving players in his strongest line up some rest time and mental preparation for a three game knock out?

...no. That's beyond a ridiculous question.

Why is that ridiculous?
If the aim is promotion and our current form what is the point of flogging the team into the ground trying to achieve the very highly improbable only to be clapped out for what will be a three game knockout?

We're six points behind them with a game in hand, with nine games left, they've got a really tough run in and we've still got to play them... and you want to give up and play the reserves?? And you don't think that's ridiculous?
