Aberavon seafront parking charge

Pay through the those for everything and what do we get for it?

I can't wait to retire in the sun somewhere else.
Come over here, Smurph. If the local council tried to impose parking charges on the seafront around here, they'd have a full scale riot on their hands.
There is paid parking in town centres, it cost me a shocking 18p to park for an hour in Oliva town centre yesterday 🤣

I'm on my way 😉❤️

We just accept things in this country, have a little moan about it and just get back to things.

Paying stupid parking fee's puts me off going in to Swansea City centre. These days it's much easier to order things online.

I'm not a huge fan of the French, at least they've got the balls to burn shit to the ground if they aren't happy.

Something like this doesn’t bother me, in fact it should have been done years ago. I’d never expect to go anywhere that’s a tourist attraction and not expect to pay to park.

Hopefully it’ll stop the people that park up at 9am and leave their car there all day.

This is a timely thread. This morning through the post I had a letter from a debt collector demanding £170 for an unpaid parking charge I allegedly incurred in Parc Tawe. I remember the parking charge and I remember appealing it and hearing nothing else until today. The parking charge notice in question was issued in December 2021, I sent my appeal a few days later and today, nearly three and a half years on I have the next correspondence. I am contemplating my next move.

So you heard nothing from them regarding your appeal, is that right

Fair enough, and I'm not being antagonistic here, but it may well affect other folk in a detremental way. Sometimes it's not just about the individual.👍

Absolute parasites these parking companies and bailiffs.

Let us know how it goes 👍🏼

There was a good piece on PCN’s from Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis including a template letter and appealing to trade bodies of parking companies

There are very strict rules they have to abide by, at first glance I would agree with you synopsis.
I’m quite experienced with these companies. I’m not saying I’ll definitely “win” but I’ll give it a good go. :ROFLMAO: If they get any cash out of me they’ll have to work for it. And it certainly won’t be £170. Got to tread a bit carefully though, I can’t afford a ccj against me for a number of reasons.

Go for it, I've been through at least 4 or 5 these, it's a pain in the arse, but well worth giving them hell, scum they are.

I hope you beat them ECB, that's stressful as hell.

Bunch of shit heads down Parc Tawe, get clued up on it. If you remember, there was a case a few year back, when there was a problem with actually getting out of the car park, nobody could get out, but even after a story on Wales Online, multiple people were fined, and their appeals ignored.

I hate these kind of car parking vultures, because you know, if you were to frequent them quite often, maybe one day, you will break down, and the recovery takes 2 hours plus, they will just fine you.

I remember people complaining about getting stuck in the car park so their answer was to build an extra entrance 🫣

You can pay to park all day in Scarlet Ave for £2 in winter and £4 in summer, try parking in Swansea or Cardiff all day and see how much it costs.

You can park in Swansea city centre multi-story car parks for £5 all day. Council tried to increase those charges last year and people went nuts, leading to a quick reversal.

Ironically, a large proportion of those spaces are taken by people working all day in the city centre, so the argument that cheaper parking means more footfall and spend in the city centre doesn't hold water. Plus it means the car parks actually run at a loss at those prices and cost us all money from our council tax to maintain those low prices.

Whatever the council do, they can't win. Which feels like a lovely allegory for modern life to me.
