It would be risky to appoint Sheehan simply because of his inexperience, but how much experience of managing has Ramsey or Davies have, Luke Williams has only limited experience of management.

Simple answer is employ a high quality experienced manager, that would be my choice but I'm not the owners.

Everything is a punt. Often 50:50. We just don't need a stupid punt like Rooney here.

Personally I'd give Sheehan until the end of the season as 'probation'. Sort it all out then, unless we get ourselves in a relegation pickle, which I doubt now. It's looking like another Russbot type nothing season at the moment. The way we are playing looks ok'ish when they actually decide to show some intent and he obviouly had a positive half time impact, whereas with Duff and the 'bot, it was often worse after half time 'motivation'.

I share the same misgivings as Coops about selection, but maybe give him a bit more time to develop things. Scrapping for points has been the key pressure point up to now.

That said, a fully fit Allen Key (someone had to), Walsh and Ginelly would have made a big difference this season.

I suggested yesterday that if we're still floundering around and no nearer an appointment than we were a month ago it could make sense.
It would give us time to make sure that we get the right candidate in as soon as the season ends.

Correct. It only makes sense if either we cannot get one of our absolute top targets, or if we don’t yet have a target.

On the other hand, if the right man is available now then we should get him. This will allow thorough judgement on squad capabilities over the second half of the season, leading to a more effective summer window.

He's done ok points wise, but if anyone honestly thinks he's the guy to take us forward long term you need your head examining. The performances have only been marginally better than Duff, the only reason he's getting more out of the players than Duff is because he's a likeable bloke, and not a complete helmet like Duff was.

Bottom line, 'likeable' doesn't qualify you for permanent head coach jobs, I'd like to see us setting our sights much higher than that.

But then who knows what they'll do, with these muppets in charge anything could happen.

I think you can look back at the last two 'caretaker'/short term managers made (more) permanent appointments in Monk and Guidolin and most supporters would agree that they both turned out to be mistakes in the long run. I hope we don't do the same thing now with Sheehan.

Whoever comes in as manager will need to demonstrate a vision for the next couple of years which you'd hope would entail far more than just getting a par return over 7 matches.

The only way Sheehan coming in is an acceptable outcome is if we are able to all but agree that someone fantastic will come in the summer. Even then, sacking Duff and ending up with one of his assistants one month later, smacks of absolute incompetency on behalf of those making the decisions at the club.
