Oh man. This one upset me. It took me right back to the 1980s and vivid memories of lying in the bath after football listening to her Sunday show. She seemed unimaginably cool.

Seems Jo Whiley luvs the amazing new artists she plays on her show all the time , we the listeners must see them live , brill .

Sara Cox loves reminding everybody and every opportunity she is a Lancashire and Bolton lass , got the message thanks .

Tuned into R2 drive time home yesterday , Scott Mills waffling on about how his Panto Season went , how great it was .
Turned off straight away and CD driving music on instead , I am old I know , but anything rather than his nonsense .

As an OAP can somebody explain Radio 1 / One Extra etc , youngsters have it on in our warehouse , not for me alas .

RIP Annie , 83 years young , part of my love of Radio , slowly losing interest in that media outlet .

Agree with you absolutely about modern daytime radio. If fact, I gave up completely with daytime radio and TOTP and all stuff like that in June 1993 after being convinced there must surely be more and better than this and I went out to find it and I still am, so much brilliant under-exposed music out there for those who want to discover it. Best lightbulb moment I ever had. If you're wondering about the June '93 date being so specific, I had just watched an episode of TOTP and the #1 single that week was 'Dreams' by Gabrielle, (the one who wore the eye-patch) and I was left speechless that the best selling single in the UK was an incredibly ordinary song by an incredibly ordinary singer and people had exchanged good money for such lifeless, bland pap. 2 weeks later, I saw The Levellers live which was fantastic and I never looked back. These days I go to about 1/2 dozen gigs a year by bands who are never heard on UK radio but it is so uplifting at a time in my life when so many have just given up. I still don't like 'Dreams' but if ever there was a single song that was instrumental in me discovering a whole world of fantastic music, this is the one.

Ah, Whispering Bob Harris, once met him and had a nice chat in the backstage bar at a Genesis gig in Hammersmith Odeon (now the Eventim Apollo) and had a good chat, would be around 1979/80. What an absolute gentleman.

Radio Wales earlier played a trilogy of Bowie songs , Space Oddity included , made in 1969 , a month before Neil Armstrong planted his boot on the Moon , allegedly .

Still sounded as sinister and dark as when I first heard it way back then .
