Another gutless performance

It seems to me that the thread title was designed to provoke the very reaction that it did, and the OP is now moaning about. :)

I doubt there is a single supporter that doesn't want more wins, more attacks, more excitement and various other 'mores'. Some in true internet fashion think today is the measuring point that will never change; some, more grounded in the real world think that the time to judge is nowhere near now. Doesn't mean blanket approval, by any means. The two might converge, who knows, it's still months and months too early.

I bet this sort of thread is replicated on every other forum of every other club. Arsenal will have one when they lose a game or two. Scousehouse probably already do.

Oh and in my opinion, it's not gutless. It has been in the past. Not least Wembley.
How am I "moaning"?

Isn't this a forum?... For dialogue on subjects?

We're not always going to agree on everything... I don't expect you to - but let's not pretend it claim I'm "moaning" about a thread I started for the purposes of discussion. I feel we need to be more cutthroat about our chances in front of goal as we certainly have the team to do this... But people here would rather take exception to a use of a word instead of the topic at hand...

So, to respond to you; considering a significant change in style and aggression takes time to implement and for the players to adapt... When in the season do you suggest we look at a shift - or are you happy with the current form?

If it quacks like a moan...

My opinion is well set out repeatedly in many threads. 'Needs improvement', 'shoot you c***s' (tm), and still too much caution with risks taken in our box instead of theirs, but not 'gutless'. So we are in agreement on some potential remedies, and I don't think anyone really disagrees, but did you seriously think your thread title wouldn't provoke exactly the reaction it did. You reversed out of it very quickly. Sheehan needs to be looking at tweaks and changes right now, we need to be looking at Sheehan next February or March, barring a collapse. Personally I'm not convinced by him, although I like him and his attitude, unlike the last two chancers, and a judgement now would be brutally unfair. I want him to succeed and I want him to have time and space to succeed. We simply can't keep sacking people so regularly. It's a terrible way to run a club. We're not Rangers.

Who else would love to see the Swans become more ruthless and opportunistic, constantly pushing...?

At present there's too much emphasis on keeping the ball, even if it means going backwards and sideways more often. It seems to many here though that pointing this out is being, somewhat, "excessive".

My use of the word "gutless" was intended to stir debate on this issue as something needs to change if we are to be a top table team or, dare I say it, promoted. We need to get out of this current mindset of play because the Premier League and Europe (thinking of the potential future, here!) require speed and aggression, not holding ball.

While I certainly want the team to improve and promotion should always be the ultimate aim, I don't think you help your argument by talking about how we need to change our style with European football in mind.

There's ambition and then there's arrogance. Talking about playing European football when we're mid-table in the Championship is Cardiff level arrogance.

Last bit of advice from me.

The odd paragraph wouldn’t go a miss, now and again.

As you were.

Why can't we model a European-esque playstyle? We played more aggressively under Brendan Rodgers and got promoted!

Stop conflating what I'm saying... I'm not saying we should play FOR European football... I'm saying we should play fast, flowing, FORWARD ATTACKING football. Stop being so disingenuous and claiming "arrogance"... To avoid doubt, this is what you're all complaining about:

1. My use of the word "gutless" instead of actually discussing the subject. (I'll stick with these use of the word - it's not sensationalism or exaggerated. The team are playing too safe ATM.... No guts, no glory!).

2. My critique of the current playstyle being slowball, sideways and backwards. Our players will rarely take shots at goal from a distance and players instead prefer to fight it out inside the goal box to score. Sure, any goal is good but with most of an opposition team defending inside a goal it's more likely an effort that will end in failure. What's wrong with taking chances?

3. Some feel it's too early to be critical and in many cases I'd agree. But we're playing too safe at the moment when we need to be challenging. I'm not saying we're going to win the Championship title or get into Europe - but the ideology needs to change to set the pace for how the season progresses! I believe the players are not doing themselves justice playing this way and instead should play to their abilities - not held back.

So, what exactly have I said that's so 'terrible'?... Not much! It's just People here complaining for the sake of complaining because it's in their nature to attack instead of converse. People moaning because it's what they do... People sensationalising something that isn't às bad as they make out...
