Anyone cut the grass yet?

Lack of rain (until 4pm today).
According to the BBC weather, dry tomorrow, then rain until the 22nd, so I would imagine, the next few weeks the grass will be growing pretty fast.

I'm definitely going to keep on top of it now.

Yes, dry tomorrow 🤞🏽
Clean the patio, paint the decking, MOT the BBQ’s and then we’re open for business ☀️

Next grass cut, looks like start of May with the forthcoming Weather, one thing I’m curious about is the size of ECB garden, It’s all cut, cut, cut, and I’m Mr Lawnmower man, but if your garden is small, it really is no great shakes.

If you pop round for a cup of tea I'm sure that he will give you a tour...

🤣🤣🤣

It’s not small, but it’s not like we’ve got acres. We’re in a side plot so we’ve got a fair bit of lawn both front and back. Takes about two hours maybe a bit more to do both.

Lidl are flogging robot mowers for £200. If it was taking me two hours I'd be considering splashing out.

Luckily my postage stamp takes me 15 minutes in total to do both front and back.

But there again, I feel like a million dollars after mowing my lawn.

N.B. Before anyone suggests it I don't think I'd get that same sense of euphoria doing anyone else's lawns.

When it’s time to change your mower, get a self propelled one with at least a 21 cutting blade. I changed mine a few years ago and this one does the lawn in less than a third of the time the previous one did.

It may seem a lot easier with those petrol/self propelled ones, but I really don't think they give a nice finish, personally i use a flymo. And all jokes aside, hand on heart, the flymo gives a way better finish.

I'm only speaking from looking at my neighbours garden who uses a self propelled jobby, and the cut I give my grass is way better. Maybe it's a case of they are just going through the motions!, walking up and down, job done.

Shit. Is there more to it than walking up and down? That's all I've ever done.

Except when I had a petrol mower. Then I used to have to jog up and down. It wasn't great.

Currently I've a Ryobi battery mower. The batteries are shit, the cut - on lowest setting - looks like I've missed bits. It's rubbish.

Yes mun SB. You can walk down and up.

I have Mountfield battery one and it’s been great. Must have lasted 8 years now with zero maintenance or fuss. I think I’d shell out for a Stihl next as any of their kit I have has been a cut above 🙄

What I mean is, with a self propelled job you’re more than likely to do longer runs, like walk to the bottom of the garden then back up, where as what i do, is one area at a time. Not sure what the most efficient method is, but reading a bit about mowers earlier, it seems it’s more of the actual mowers fault than the one using it. Poor cutting blades and so on.
