• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Anyone remember this

Was all so bizarre and surreal. Only positive is we got big Jan Molby in and some entertaining, if slightly chaotic, football. Big Jan stood on the centre spot spraying passes. Shorts made from sails!

Close to the top of the list of most bizarre appointments ever made.

It's someone you prefer to forget about.
Had to check his Wiki:-
Status former association football manager. (2 games)
Jailed for 9 months for fraud.
Wonder if anyone was hired as a league manager and managed just 1 game.
Or would he be the record holder.
Officially 1 and a half games.

Lasted a game and a half when Christian Edwards gave the half time team talk and everyone ignored the former Cradley Town youth manager in his second game. Jailed for fraud a few years later.

Contrast with the “Arsene who?” headlines in the nationals a couple of years later that looked stupid very quickly.

Always though it was David Penney-who did go on to management. I may be wrong.

Leroy Rosenior lasted 10 minutes at Torquay before new owners took over!

Dave Bassett had the shortest spell before that in English football (4 days at Crystal Palace in the mid 80s).

Barrow have sacked their manager Paul Gallagher after 40 days and 5 games which they lost .
After the announcement on social media
6 mins later his successor was announced.
That is a bit harsh

It was Thompson and Cullis who first made contact with Molby. Molesworth who was assistant to Cullis was a scout with Liverpool and knew Molby and was talking of him coming down.
Very strange days but can look back fondly in a strange way.
