Yes, but I guess the big question on everyone's mind, is that should a prison be an overflow for MH patients? IMO most certainly not.Getting someone assessed is hard enough, getting a placement in a secure unit is really really difficult and mega expensive ( not that that would be an issue for the health board when he’s been put there by a Court). If there are MH issues then he may end up in the prison hospital wing.
I’ve never met the guy, but I feel sorry for him. He’s probably been a model citizen all his life, something has snapped and it’s all kicked off. He’s going to lose pretty much everything he’s ever worked hard for.
Although this is only second guessing, unless the full reasons for his incarceration are released. We will never know, although for me personally, I would feel pretty cheesed off, if someone suffering from MH issues, was put in prison, rather than a proper MH hospital, where hopefully he could get the care that is needed.
