Nor should they. It's up to him whether he wants to take a cut in salary to remain at the club. I doubt he will, but maybe it's not that cut and dried.

What can he expect as a wage in his 30s? If he's on £80k pw now will he'll be lucky to get half that amount wherever he signs. Great player but remember he's a great player at championship level.
