Well the playground child's answer would be "they started it".
Looking at it objectively then RM are definitely the party at fault, Bale in my mind is perfectly justified to troll them after the way that the club has treated him.

You wouldn’t be up on that high horse if he was our player.

Actually when the news first broke about Paterson and the rumours that he wasn't playing because we went back on an agreement and stitched him up I said that if it was true that I was siding with Paterson over it.

Imagine that being Ayew here doing what Bale's doing. We'd be up in arms.

The only real difference between Ayew here and Bale there is that we chose to play Ayew. Bale is available to play for Real Madrid plenty, but they don't want to pick him.

They were the ones stupid enough to give him an obscene contact. There's not one person here who wouldn't do exactly what Bale is doing in the situation.

Now the not learning Spanish issue, I'm with their fans on that one. That should definitely have been something he prioritised.

Like I said, fault in both sides, plus he said he’d rather play golf so can hardly complain about being paid close to half a million a week and not getting picked. No one comes out of this with any credit.

That's a myth. He can speak Spanish but poorly so

He's been in Spain for almost 9 years. There's no excuse for not being at least competent in the language by now, especially given how much he earns. I wouldn't be surprised if Real would have picked up the bill for him to have a tutor back in his early days there.

I have no love for Madrid, their pandering press and their ridiculous fans, while I recognise how important Bale has been for Wales. I just think a relatively small amount of effort on his part could have led to improved goodwill towards him from the fans and press, which would have made his life a lot easier.

Can't see Bale's done anything wrong at Madrid, it's more how he's been treated by them.
He's always made himself available, kept himself fit but they wanted him out and he thought why should he go ? They both agreed the contract. He doesn't get picked for the matchday squad, not wanted around the team so what's he to do ? He goes and enjoys a game of golf instead.

They only won the Champions League against Liverpool after he came on as a substitute and scored two goals for them but that still wasn't good enough.

He's stuck to his guns so good luck to him. Just because he's such a strong character and won't bow down to them.

If it was Sterling or Maguire rather than Bale doing it, I'm sure everyone would support that too.

I think both sides have acted in a juvenile manner at times and they should have called it quits long ago, and compromised on the cash. Bale has lost years off a finite career. To blame the club that has made him a multi-multi-multi millionaire and hang on there to suck more from the teat may be a legitimate entitlement but seems a bit churlish and grasping. Ditto if Madrid wouldn't 'let' him go, but that feels unlikely given what it's costing them, as I doubt anyone would risk a decent fee on him now. Always a possibility I suppose, but I think international football (generally poor standard) and the odd flash here and there is all that's left of him. He's been fantastic for Wales and a great ambassador, plus in his prime an amazing player. We've been privileged to have him.

I can see it happening. Playing for his hometown club at a massive discount would be two fingers to those who say he only cares about money.

Hopefully he'll feel he's good enough to keep playing at a higher level.
