Bale to Cardiff

Absolutely, Southampton would be a superb match up for him and them, going full circle before Qatar.

Southampton are probably good enough to only need to use him sparingly too, last 20 minutes here and there. They shouldn't really need him to start games, more of a super sub. They will also know he isn't their future.

And probably get a start in their FA Cup, Carabao Cup games 👌

Sadly I think it will happen and I think he'll do well there. Just his being at the club will help them with recruitment.

It's his hometown club, his Uncle played for them and what better way to put 2 fingers up to those who say he only cares about money than to play for his hometown club for a nominal wage.

He's always been a little different to the average superstar football who's obsessed with being seen to be the best etc. I think Bale only cares about what Welsh fans think of him. I just can't imagine him taking a final payday in the States, Asia, or playing for Newcastle when he could add to his reputation in Wales by playing for his hometown club.

Hope I'm wrong.

If he wants to play in a World Cup for Wales then he’d avoid the Championship all together

Your logic is sensible, as always, but I think he is as greedy as the next footballer. If the barcodes want him to be some kind of headline for a year, he’ll be there. He’ll go to Cardiff if that’s the only offer he can see any ‘glory’ in. I bet he would love to hold up a Newcastle shirt proclaiming he’ll get them ‘where they belong’. He’ll feel he can do it too. No one ever is realistic about waning powers and he’ll chase a last hurrah.

If he plays in the Championship he will be a big target for the cloggers in this league who will be trying to prove a point . Better for Wales he plays in the Prem get some decent game time and get fully fit for Qatar.

I get the Cardiff link but who will that truly benefit !?

He doesn't care about money , its a big thing playing for your home club , he will automatically become the best player to ever play for Cardiff , its a big part of a players legacy especially if they plan to live there after retirement , I'm sure john Charles and john hartson would have loved to have had Swansea on their CV

Or Possibly Brighton?

Oy be careful how you travel to your Cardiff medical, Gaz.

No real issue where he he plays next , he is a Cardiff guy so if a deal is struck with his hometown club carry on and good luck him .

With regards Wales , i also believe him being , and playing , in his home country of birth will focus all his efforts on one final achievement in his career .

If Cardiff City have to pay mega bucks in wages , i am sure they will recoup outlay in shirt sales .

Come on mun, of course he cares about money. If he cared about playing (anything but golf and for Wales) he'd have left RM ages ago. Hartson didn't play for Swansea because he cared more about money. If Bale gets a decent offer in the Prem, he'll go nowhere near Cardiff. Maybe in a year or two's time after the WC when his legs have totally gone.

The only reason he'll go there is if he has literally nothing better on offer. Although that's not how it'll be marketed, obviously.

What sort money would he realistically expect? 50-70k per week? His personal marketing would probably recoup most of that with merchandise sales and Sky probably wanting to screen a lot of his games live. Brentford perhaps? Eriksen went there.

So you think someone worth 130 million wanting to play for a few more months cares what wages he will get for those few months , that's the assumption I'm going on , of course if he plans to continue playing for a few more years then he won't choose Cardiff

Things I could not care less about

1. Gareth Bale
2. Cardiff City
3. Steve Cooper
4. Nottingham Forest
5. Any other club or manager unless they are doing my club a favour.
