Pass and move without enough move at the moment

We simply are still not creating enough. Football is better, passing is good but the players need to look for space - a couple were doing that but it wasn't happening all over.

The game was definitely better, I didn't feel bored as I would have been under Cooper but I didn't leave purring about pure football.

So many positives though Phil. I agree that the passing in the final 3rd needs to be quicker, more disguised (I saw a few occasions when a cheeky backheel would have unlocked the door) and absolutely more movement up front. A huge upgrade imo, and as the fitness levels rise, and the passing style becomes 2nd nature without the players having to think about it (as it looks like they're doing right now), we'll get better and better. I think we'll reap the rewards next season onwards, and not this. Shows how far we'd slipped eh.

I agree - similar to brentford. I remember brentford fans wanting frank out in their first season

We need more and more movement - the game the manager wants to play relies on it. And too often that movement was lacking hence why alot of attacks broke down. The wing backs were too slow to move into position, the ball to the wing back wasn't found or the easy option was to play back to the defensive line and create a few more passes. It will (may) come over time and it wasn't being overly critical as you can see what we are trying to achieve

Ntcham I think could prove to be a big asset this season and if we give Obafemi game time then so could he as he looks mobile enough.

I'm not sure Bidwell fits either tbh. He was more effective dropping deeper, then already running on to make a cross. He wasn't too good at holding the high line (several offsides against him yesterday), and I'm not sure he has the acceleration like our little Nathan had, for example. Laird was weird 1st half too - looked disinterested, flat footed but he perked up, esp when he had the ball at his feet. RM is, and will be for some time, trying players out in certain roles, positions etc., some will fit or adapt, and some won't and be replaced. Huge difference between training etc., and match days. I thought Kylie was excellent yesterday too, esp 1st half - always tries his best and adaptable imo.

I thought the movement in the first half was very good. Players were showing for the ball and with Grimes playing slightly forward of Downes, and actually switching with Downes sometimes, it seemed like there was always a pass on. That wasn't so good in the second half and definitely not after Ntcham went off. Maybe we ran out of legs - because it's tough to play like we did first half for 90mins.
