Ben Lloyd going out on loan?

It is a bit random to have a trial ahead of a loan. Normally a trial comes when the player has been told they are being released and a club will give a run out to see if they feel its worth pursuing

Odd that its been reported as trial ahead of loan - feels that could have been high risk for us

My view, I believe the club are looking at loaning players out but are approaching clubs or getting their agents to do it.
If the clubs loaning are not familiar with the player then I don't blame them having a look at them.

How long has he got left on his contract here? I heard a year.

If that's the case then given what we've already brought into midfield and still may do then realistically he's not going to get much game time. He's 20 now and needs to be settling down and playing regularly.

Maybe we've told him that he can move on if he can find a club. Negotiate ourselves a decent sell on and/or a buyback option.

Ben's contract runs until the end of the season but what we don't know is if the Swans have an option. I havn't come across the idea that a player is named as a trialist before the club announce the fact he has gone, and possibly there's a reason for it - cash is tight at Cheltenham or they don't want to waste a loan position in their squad, or Swans are happy to send Ben to Cheltenham and allow the club to see him in action prior to announcing Ben has gone out on loan officially.

Another scenario is that there could be a talented kid at Cheltenham who has been recognised by the Swans scouts and by allowing Ben Lloyd to be checked out at Cheltenham prior to starting an official loan is one way of fostering a good relationship with the League Two club.
