Blackburn v Brentford

Watched it on DAZN with a German commentary. Blackburn penalty should have been given they reckon Ponty.

Definitely should have had 2 penalties. Mowbray has had a go at the officials (rightly) without resorting to a Warnock rant. Frank does not agree (unsurprisingly)

The rugby tackle in the box was blatant, but the keeper’s foul was a foul too. They’ve definitely gotten away with one tonight.

How ironic

The keeper changes his line to prevent the forward getting the ball, a clear foul under the laws of the game.

I think it was a penalty on Fosu . The same way I think it was a penalty for us the other day, and against Middlesbrough. I think boro should have had a penalty against us. I think ours against Stoke was a dive.

I call them as I see them and don’t just say it because I’m a fan - boring seeing everyone forming their opinion on whatever is against their rivals and scramble a narrative to argue. First it was Brentford, then Watford, and now our fans are doing it on Twitter.

For Blackburn the first one was a pen. Sorensen clearly pulls him back.

Raya/Dack one I’m still not sure - you’re allowed to put your body between a player and the ball anywhere else. One things for sure Raya doesn’t intend to badly hurt him. Harvey Elliot pointing fingers and shouting at him was odd. Hopefully he gets better soon as he’s a wonderful player and already had ACL

This is going to be a relentless tussle until the end of the season . Brentford looked good but not great - probably how to describe us really. Norgaard coming back is good for them but they’ll definitely miss Henry at left back

No you are not allowed to put your body between a player and the ball by deliberately changing your line to prevent an opposing player getting to the ball, you can only shield the ball if you are in playing distance of the ball, the goalie wasn't anyway near in shielding distance of the ball, it was a clear foul under the rules of the game.

One for the goalkeepers' union here ...
Blackburn player leans right, keeper leans left, shoulder to shoulder contact. No foul because the keeper didn't attempt to shield the ball or 'impede the progress of an opponent'. If a player can’t deviate slightly from his line of movement we'd have 100s of fouls every game.
If that had been a penalty defenders would be giving several away every game ... both Guehi and Cabango are good at 'seeing the ball out of play' often change direction and often with the ball beyond their possession.
What I would like to see is referees not penalising forwards for shoulder to shoulder contact with goalkeepers.
But, last night ... IMO penalty

Shoulder to shoulder is fine if you don't change your line but the goalie did, there are now fears that the Blackburn players career has been ended, hope that is not the case.
