Bringing Back the Crowds - Backing The Intentions Of The Club Owners

I know people may be a tad disappointed with the attendances of late but like some wary heartbroken lover some the fans will like to see evidence that this indeed is “the real thing”. Carry on in and around the playoffs playing exciting attacking football rhe place will be full again and rocking.

The club obviously read the message boards as they have re-opened the season ticket purchase mechanism.

If they can get rid of Ticketmaster and get the online purchasing side right (and walk up on the day) they will maximize their revenue.

Our general fan base I would say are cash poor, so the entertainment needs to be worth it to justify the cost of going and unfortunately even this season we are a boring watch. Hopefully that will change when Mr Sheehan has a settled team with the new signings, but I fear he is too pragmatic.

I priced up tickets for a family of five(2 adults/3 teens) for the forest game and I can't part with £85 notes for a midweek game vs watching it in the house on Sky Sports. I would love to attend, but priced out.

Pretty simple….winning football it’s been the same since year dot, mind, Sky scheduling is definitely an obstacle in the way.

This is one of the benefits of increasing the stadium’s capacity - the club are better placed to make family packages at reduced prices when there’s a “middle of the road” game. Like a lower category price etc. Without that extra capacity (say 5 to 10 k extra) we can’t really do it . It’s a great way of bringing on the next generation of Swans fans .
It’s what the club were poised to do in the PL but never got around to it. I sense the new owners will be eying this up as a near future priority.

I'm disappointed that the crowds have not been more than they have been this season already.
I know we were going to lose people gradually after the premier league years but I feel that the club have shown some real intent and a real pro active approach this summer and I felt fans would react to it but disappointingly they haven't.

it would be nice for us to break through that 16k barrier regular as a start.
A win Saturday will hopefully be a good start, hopefully make people's reasons not to go harder and harder to defend and eventually see more people coming through those turnstiles.

I haven’t seen the Swans live yet this season because I’m rarely at home during August.
Looking forward to my first game on Saturday. As a season ticket holder the club has my money and presumably counted me as “present” at the two home fixtures already played.

Agreed with the article.

Whilst there are positive signs of progression, it will take more than a few games to undo the seasons where the opposite was happening.
Hopefully we see steady increase, but I doubt a big step immediately.

This, things won't happen overnight and though the season is in it's very early stages, the football so far( in league games) hasn't been particularly exciting to watch. Think the first half against Watford we didn't actually have a shot on target, that has to change if you are looking to entice people back to games. You can make ticket prices as cheap as you want, but if it's poor quality entertainment you won't get supporters coming back.

Its a tough audience if that's the case.

People stopped going because of Martin and Williams style of football.......they are no longer here.

People got fed up of the previous owner regime.....they are no longer here.

People were not happy that there was no investment and we were poor with recruitment etc......that has clearly changed this summer.

I personally can't see what more can be done to put those reasons for not coming to bed.
If we are at the top level of the hardcore of 14/15k then it's disappointing for me.

When people stop coming they find other things to do with their money. Things that are far more enjoyable than the football served up for a few years now. A slight upturn in results isn’t yet enough to tempt them back. These aren’t the kind of fans who eat, sleep and drink the Swans and come on Planet Swans to discuss all things Swans.
They may have noticed that we’ve signed a few players that they’ve barely or never heard of. They may have noticed that we’ve started the season ok. It going to take more than that to get them back at the football.

Let’s see where we are after a dozen games.

We now have 6 games in 22 days (5 Championship and 1 League Cup) and 4 of them are at home. That'll put a strain on the squad but just as much on the fans and their wallets, and the attendance figures will go through the floor.

Our transient fanbase had had a taste of top table football now we are dining in the local cafe, the appeal has gone mainly for families. It's been coming a while but the club have done nothing to stem the decline in the South Stand.
