Cooper

When he got the job I seem to remember that when interviewed The chairman declared he ticked all the boxes to take the club forward. It couldn't have been what style of play do encourage. It must have been we've got a lot of youngsters here can you use them and what's your contact for loans? End of interview.

You can't fault the results this season but I can easily name the good performances off the top of my head

Brentford away
Stoke home
Cardiff away
Norwich home
Reading home
Watford home

I'm struggling then. It's not great really. You could Forest in the cup too

All that possession one shot on target!!!! Hissy fits are justified mate

So for you a scuffed shot that's saved by the keeper as if he was stopping a shot by a toddler playing in crocks means more than a header that's millimetres off? Well at least the players know how to please you. May as well start shooting on target from the half way line, it doesn't matter they're going to be saved easily, because the stats will show that we had loads of shots on target. Good fackin plan.
It was poor from us and you know it. Don't try and detract by being silly "shots from half way line"

He's been here 2 seasons now and we have had a proper striker for half a season(brewster). We have got a pedestrian midfield with very little creativity and even less goals. These are the issues that should have been addressed a long time ago. We are the 10th highest scoring team in the championship this season and for a club looking to achieve automatic promotion is a disgrace. Most teams at the moment ( including them yesterday) know if they can score the first goal against us we are going to struggle to get anything out of the game. Our promotion winning team under Rodgers would have taken this lot to the cleaners. They were a joy to watch, which is something i definitely can't say about Coopers football.

do we trust the board to bring someone in who wants to play our brand of football tho?

Really don't understand the owners to be honest. They had a golden chance this season to get back in the premier league and the possibility of selling the club(if they wanted) . Surely the club would be worth far more to them in the top flight than in the championship, and yet when the opportunity arose in January to really push for home we have had an absolutely disastrous transfer window with minimal benefit coming from the players recruited.

It's because they know fuck all about football.

Just logged on to here. what has happened to this site? In 20yrs I'VE rarely seen such over reaction - and I've seen plenty on here.
I watched with a Cardiff fan yesterday. We battered them. Cooper certainly has his faults but he's working with the least talented squad in the top 4 and even likes of Bournemouth who's squad is miles better player for player. We've been superbly consistent. He just doesn't have the tools to do much more. That's obvious. Watford's squad is very much what it was in the Prem; ditto Norwich and Bournemouth.

Potter? Now there's a guy who took us nowhere. We couldn't defend for toffee under hin despite having VDH, Rodon , Carter-Vickers etc.
Good to watch at times but hideously naive. Cooper just needed to pull a striker out of the bag and a goal scoring midfielder. He got both but one got injured and the other is surprisingly lack lustre. Brewster in in January and we'd likely be 2nd now. Lost Gibbs White too unexpectedly then injures to Cullen, Routs, then Morris.

What he needs to do now once 2nd is "gone" is rotate the squad because it's irrelevant whether we finish 3rd or 6th but we have to be ready for the play offs. Big 2wks coming up where we need to regroup. Brentford have done worse than us recently; Watford may start dropping enough points to re-open the door. Keep fighting lads!

As Curtis keeps saying, play well and you win more games.

Do you think Cooper would keep Brighton up?

I don't. Nor do I think we'd have a snowballs chance of staying up if we went up

Can't argue with any of that. We put all our eggs in the Brewster basket last summer which was fateful.

I'm trying not to be too downbeat as we weren't looking great before lockdown, but we were substantially better after. Similar when we went up under Rodgers, we turned it around and won the last 5 and went up with that momentum.

The lack ot confidence in the fanbase is telling, it has been a hard season to watch

he's what you get if you pick anyone off the English or Welsh coaching conveyor. Shape, discipline, keep it tight, hatred of flair players that won't be part of the machine. That's just the way it is. I detested it last season when we should have walked into the playoffs and lucked in, I've warmed to him this season as at times he seems he might be learning...but it really is a few matches and only when teams let us play and don't pressure us. Otherwise it's 'lump the f*cker' football. He may have done a good job, someone else may have done better, especially with development of Celina, Grimes, Dhanda...who knows? You pays your money and takes your choice. My view now is we could have got better, we could have got much worse. Derby sacked Clement for the same football when they were fifth and it didn't work out well for them.

One thing's for sure, he's going nowhere unless he's poached, and we'll never know if better results could have been obtained a different way, and we should be careful what we wish for I suppose, but the results alone will give his time here a historical glow, that I'm not sure he deserves.

So the two big benefits for me are 1) we aren't fighting relegation, at least yet, and 2) I'm not in the stadium travelling 200 miles to watch this Groundhog Day of shit football. I think I'd have to take my knitting.

i cant see us fighting relegation at all mon, in fairness.

I do agree with JJJ that if we had MGW for a season we'd be top 2

The rumour going around at the moment is that Wilder has told Sheff Utd to go and get Cooper to replace him, because he plays their way with 352, and will get the best out of Brewster. 😎
