he's what you get if you pick anyone off the English or Welsh coaching conveyor. Shape, discipline, keep it tight, hatred of flair players that won't be part of the machine. That's just the way it is. I detested it last season when we should have walked into the playoffs and lucked in, I've warmed to him this season as at times he seems he might be learning...but it really is a few matches and only when teams let us play and don't pressure us. Otherwise it's 'lump the f*cker' football. He may have done a good job, someone else may have done better, especially with development of Celina, Grimes, Dhanda...who knows? You pays your money and takes your choice. My view now is we could have got better, we could have got much worse. Derby sacked Clement for the same football when they were fifth and it didn't work out well for them.
One thing's for sure, he's going nowhere unless he's poached, and we'll never know if better results could have been obtained a different way, and we should be careful what we wish for I suppose, but the results alone will give his time here a historical glow, that I'm not sure he deserves.
So the two big benefits for me are 1) we aren't fighting relegation, at least yet, and 2) I'm not in the stadium travelling 200 miles to watch this Groundhog Day of s**t football. I think I'd have to take my knitting.
