Coronavirus- new spike coming?

That comic is a complete joke. They’re now running a lead story with an industrial economist whatever the feck that is, throwing doubt on Vallance / Whitty forecasts. Did a quick Google search on him. He lists his areas of expertise as
Economics of cricket; Teenage pregnancy; gambling taxation; post-Brexit economy. FFS what the hell has happened to Britain?

The DM, say no more🙄

450 uk cancer deaths every day, 120 uk suicides every day. Nice of the Govt to completely overlook all that.

I'm always interested in that statistic when it is thrown out because, of course, it is a startling number but it completely disregards a few key points

1. Those causes of death are not transmitted in the way that covid is so the comparison becomes irrelevant
2. Every single member of the government I would imagine would love to find a cure for cancer or sufficient support to stop suicide so I dont think anyone is overlooking it?

Neither of those points though hide the fact that the UK government has handled the whole pandemic terribly start to finish and show no signs of letting up on that front.

But they got their headline yesterday of 50,000 cases per day

Think you'll find the figures are very relevant. How many have and are dying of cancer due to the shambolic handling of the pandemic, along with the suicide rate inevitably rising also for the same reason.

What were the rates for say this time last year? (Not a challenging question just one that would be of interest to see)

I guess this is why Swansea is now on the Watch List.

Buckle up troops ...

How many of those people would have died if Covid had never happened? Impossible to answer, so a pointless argument.

All the people I personally know who have ongoing conditions like cancer, including immediate family members, are still receiving treatment and have all through Covid.

And that is the tip of the iceberg, the Covid will be by far the less of the 2 evils probably over a million deaths in the not to distant future mainly due to the stopping of routine procedures and not being able to see a specialist for god knows how long, yet most people do not realize this, they are way to preoccupied with the Covid which could be due to the Covid media brainwashing or quite simply they are to dumb to realize that there is a far bigger ticking timebomb out there.

What an ignorant statement, if you were already receiving treatment before they stopped doing many check up procedures then maybe so, the people who get symptoms now are referred to a specialist, how ever when they get to see that specialist is another matter, procedures such as Endoscopy's have more or less ceased, what the ones in this predicament must feel when they see idiots like you saying stuff like that must be pretty distressing.

Think we will see the effects of that one in about 18 months....I think it’s scandalous that they never started up routine cancer care in hospitals this summer. 500 deaths a day, same for heat disease. Sure, we cannot pass these on to each other but we can’t stop these deaths either. Sometimes that’s life, it’s tough but if you are vulnerable then you should be shielding, all gone quiet on that count!

I'm giving my personal experiences on the matter, rather than quoting a load of made-up statistics. If someone is in the situation you describe above, then I would have sympathy for them. As for you, go stick your head back up your ass where it belongs.
