• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

I spoke to guy I work with earlier today, he’s been off work for the best part of 3 weeks after catching Covid, he said it’s the illest he’s ever been. He took some precautions, but didn’t do the masks etc when he should have and he was very ill. No underlying health conditions and is very fit. I have another 2 mates who’ve said exactly the same thing, it’s strange because I know others who had very mild symptoms. Stay safe and take precautions.

Just to reiterate that the new variants are about twice as infective (from real data not models) and that there appears to be a slight reduction in protection from previous exposure. Too few vaccinated to know if there is less protection, but initial studies suggest there is some reduction (though the vaccines should still work). ONS suggests 12% of people have antibodies now, this is well below the 60-70% needed for herd immunity, and well below even the number for a partial effect.

Take care, keep clean and wear a bloody mask. If you are offered the vaccine for god's sake have it.

At least people have shut up about Sweden. The second wave is a bigger problem in Africa this time. Heard from a colleague in Malawi that they are at breaking point, whereas had only a few cases back in March-June.
