• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Indeed they do but whether they then report it is another matter altogether.

I don’t understand.

Maybe we're on crossed wires.

My point - Sky and the Beeb regularly report new case numbers (the bad news) but regularly fail to add the other data sets (the not so bad news).

Is this thing ever going to go away, that's all I'm seeing on the news now! https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-italy-toughens-mask-rules-and-closes-nightclubs-after-scientists-warn-cases-are-climbing-12050654

I'm wondering though, they are shoving it down our throats, cases are rising, cases are rising..yet the mortality rate is very low, for example look at the report from sky, Italy 479 new infections, and 4 deaths, the way I see it, either the virus has mutated too be less harmful, or the tests are false..

Iv'e just started looking at this as well, and the figures just don't add up, especially when you start looking at new cases and new hospital admissions. https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/

If you only refer to Sky News data (or BBC News data for that matter) then you are only receiving part of the picture. You also need to understand i) number of tests conducted, ii) geographical spread of confirmed cases, iii) hospital admissions, iv) daily mortality rates. Take one of these away and the picture is a lot less clear.

The figures I am talking about are from the govuk website this one https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/, the sky news link was just a report of how cases are rising in Italy.

Oh right. I didn't click on the links and assumed that you were talking about UK news stories (because Sky are also pushing the same story concerning the UK).

I’ll take your word for it. I don’t watch much TV news these days.

I wouldn't rush to change that habit.

Being accurate the numbers being found positive for SARS CoV2 (the virus) are rising but those with disease (CoVid19) are not at the same rate-
Largely as already stated due to wider testing and detection of the asymptomatic but infected. Remember we were only testing those symptomatic and hospitalised early on
Mortality rates are lowered as a consequence and due to improvements in therapy. But as others have attested this
Is still a serious disease and we have a long road ahead still
