read a post on FB that former swan Derek Bellotti, who played for us in th emid 70s has passed away this week

RIP.

Saw him play his first ? League game for us Darlington away opening game of 74/75 season when we lost 3-2.
From memory I don't think he played more than about 20 games for us

Yes looked the part tall and solid but I think after us he dropped into lower non league

If my memory serves me right he played left back, think.he only made a couple of appearances.

Not even Steve Potter . Was at the Vetch on 5th April 1975 v Northampton Town and it was also Grand National day. Was on the open bank behind the goals and Potter was in goals for us . We had taken a transistor radio in to listen to the race and other football scores. Every time the ball went over the halfway line Potter would turn around and ask us if there was any news on the Grand National. Think the attendance was very low, something like 1500 or just over.
