A recent Swansea tweet that has blown up is their recent job advert for a first team performance analyst. The tweet currently has over 6 million views, which seems to be the club's most viewed tweet in recent history.

The Club are being hounded for the job they are advertising which is for a first team analyst with a masters degree, several responsibilities and a number of skills on 22k a year. That is just a few pennies per hour over the minimum wage for 23 year olds, at the advertised 40 hours per week (no doubt this staff member will be closer to 60 hours per week though). They are expected to work across analysis, data and recruitment with relationships with coaches, players and other high level staff.

Its about time we looked after our staff, you can't use staff turnover as an excuse for the on pitch performance and behind the scenes goings on? if you are paying staff minimum wage, with such responsibilities - not to mention working with people who earn 5/10/20 k a week.

Its no wonder that we are ripping up the script every year or two if we can't even pay a decent wage for the grafters to stay at the club. The people who do the day to day running are just as important as the manager and coaches. It's a big ecosystem that has to run smoothly, and having good people on the ground is the foundation for that. Keeping the best people at the club and having consistency in the football department would benefit us massively.

Anyone who's half decent at their job will be off to bigger and better things so they can actually afford to live. And I don't blame them!

Would be interesting to know if this level of pay is similar across the other staff members and even other clubs.

Disgraceful.

I would be interested to know what the "going rate" so to speak is for that position amongst other clubs in the Championship.

They want to pay a 23 year old with a degree and a masters degree 23 k a year and they will paysome of the 21 year olds who don't even get in the team 2500 a week with no education for kicking a flippin ball around.

Money and Football in general , what a minefield , Chelsea benchwarmers earning obscene wages funded by American owners who see the name Chelsea , thats a nice status symbol to own , Middle East investors want to get in on the circus too .

Public Entertainment is now football , akin to watching film stars in their latest Blockbuster Movie , Cash is King .

No idea , but very much doubt , money from the top table is filtering down to grass roots football in any way .

Part of the recruitment team at £23 k per year , few bad calls of transfer options and unforseen player attitudes later . Im out .

Roy Saunders , Deans father , once played together against my old team of misfits back in the day on Ashleigh Road .
He complimented our centre back , how well he had played , do you want to improve as a player , I can guide you and help you in your game , but the guy was only in the area on secondment and had to move back to Sussex later .

Dean Saunders skinned my all afternoon , I was a full back , issue never festered and forgotten now . 40 years later .

But they get free kit, free tickets and the "honour" of working for the club. Or something...

The difference is you might be able to sell the registration of that 21 year old for millions of quid. And their education is in kicking a flippin ball around, which turns out is a very popular entertainment industry.

Most of the academies roles we've advertised for in the last few years have been in the same £22-25k range. A lot of staff turnover since relegation. Seen mention of Twitter of Paul Watson having a chauffeur. Headline execs are doing alright, clearly.

It was popular in our personal entertainment for a very long time but now big tv is involved. I have been lucky to know some of our legends and they are as humble as it is possible to be and then there are the new lot who have, generally, a very different opinion of themselves. The guys and gals who go to uni put themselves in a lot of debt to often earn a modest income even though their skills are absolutely needed. It is a shame that clubs undervalue these professionals to insulting levels when you could do the simplest work with no responsibility for the same wage.

The disconnect between a community and the footballer is plain to see in this day and unfortunately that is the way it has become. Us supporters will love our club through thick and thin (well some of us did) and that is what the the TV entertainment industry has latched on to in a very big way.

The people who earn big bucks are those with talent and flair. Candidates 2:1 BA or BSC gets them through the door and into the interview process to cover the arses of those who employ them, who, in the event of the candidate turning out to be a clwnk, can turn around and say, ‘we’ll they looked good on paper and interviewed well’.

People who are highly qualified to do something are viewed as a resource tool, like a computer, a printer or a company vehicle.

Don’t mention company vehicle ffs, there was murders about that on Twitter yesterday.

It is what it is, if you don't like the salary offered don't apply for the job

If only we weren't bleeding staff like crazy and struggling to fill necessary roles with skilled personnel. More than a dozen left this summer, every department is short but especially scouting and analysis. The u18s manager left, followed by his successor only 6 weeks after being announced.

Talent and Flair - often confused with the old school tie.

It's about the going rate for Swansea, my Mrs had a degree and masters and was earning Tesco money working for the council, she's now doing her PhD to see if we can put some food on the table.

What is her academic background in?
