Diving Reputation

Its been discussed before about Bidwell going down easily to won a penalty for us previously but i feel that there's a lot of difference between being streetwise and winning a penalty and Naughton's dive tonight.

When the ref blew I thought he was about to book Naughton for simulation. While yes I am thrilled about the three points especially given our recent sticky patch and our record up in Stoke the way we got the winner leaves a foul taste in my mouth.

While we have often had a reputation for not being the sturdiest of teams I am concerned that the recent exploits will see us instead get a reputation for diving and will cost us in the long run when refs get more traction with us.
it was Manning that went down for the soft penalty against Forest

The foul was at upper body level first for an arm across and then the Stoke player used his right arm to pull at Naughton. Anywhere on the pitch it would have been given a penalty. The only surprise was the ref gave it when most would have bottled out.
it might have been 'soft', some players might have battled on and got nothing, it might have unusual for us to get the decision but to label Naughton a diver is ridiculous.

The more I read of this thread the more I despair. Naughton is a player some fans hate and have never rated. So he didn't battle on like the wounded sapper going over the trenches but he gets this crap thrown at him.
Noticeably, listening to SwansLive commentary from Wyndham and Curt they regularly refer to Roberts diving and dropping easily to 'win" free kicks yet silence from the fans.

f**k em!

Saying that, Rangel does have hold of his shirt mind 👀

Either way, both not penalties for me, what goes around aye 👍

Absolutely what goes around comes around. At Bristol this year, two points lost from a non/soft penalty, at Stoke last night we got them back.
But I reckon empty stadiums plays a part. I think with a home crowd in last night he doesn’t give that pen, and on Saturday if there’s been a crowd the Bristol left back would have got that 2nd yellow.

How the fvck will we get a reputation for diving when I think we've only had 3 pens all season, and 2 of them in the last 2 games.
The pen for handball v Bristol City was dodgier than Naughton's.

It was great to see one of our back 3 driving into Stoke's pen area in the 94th minute.

All I felt when Ayew put the pen away ...

Yes, great to see us going full pelt for the winner, hopefully this will be the start of strong finish 💪

There was nothing scandalous about it, mush. Clarke clipped Kyle's trailing leg after pulling at him. No experienced pro is going to struggle to stay on his feet in the penalty area when he's been clipped from behind. It was made ten times sweeter by the offender being the cheating cnut who spent the whole second half diving to the ground whenever someone breathed near him. To quote Boy George - "Karma, karma, karma chameleon......"

I can remember the howling and gnashing of teeth Routledge used to stay on his feet ...

I really don't understand why people are saying that it wasn't a penalty or naughton simulated contact, naughton was trying to get to the ball to try a get a winner, he isn't know as a diver, now as someone else has mentioned if ayew had gone he wouldn't have given it.

Dodgy penalties, long throws and a win at Stoke Shitty Central. All with added tinpot West London Gasworks FC anger and misery.

That's worth a big smile this morning, no matter what happens next.

Oh and as pointed out, it wasn't a dive. As for Watford...more ridiculously soft penalties than anyone in any league this season to get where they are, so they can naff off.
Well said,Naughton waits for contact and gets it.Is it enough to cause him to fall no,So he goes down. How many pens do we see where the attacking player make more of the contact to get a pen.Naughton just used experience and thank feck for it.

Yep, player ran across him at the back, always risky in the area, brushes Kyle, just moaning bathplugs, they said roberts was holding a player in the are feck me he would have to have been Superman or Spiderman to get out of the way, A pen, soft but bought.

Yep feck em weve had enough shyte up there from them, and Clucas deserved a comeuppance while sitting in his chair.

We are still nowhere near the luck Fulham had few years back up there....2 decision in injury time against us...and not forgotten Citeh in cup either.
So anyone saying wer lucky can fck off.

More of a penalty than the phantom on Marley decided to give them a few years ago. What goes around comes around

Did anyone ever find out what that pen was given for?
