• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

At least if you make your own you know what's going into it.

I don't eat them very often so no point in paying for the pizza oven but would certainly invest if had them regularly.

And to add would never buy them from a chain like Dominos, etc.

I make my own tomato base sauce.

2 tins of mutti.
3 garlic cloves finely chopped
Large handful of basil roughly chopped
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons olive oil

let it simmer for a couple of hours. Best to use it the next day as flavour will intensify.

Mrs gets the pizza express ready rolled up dough. Always great.

Try this Mutti on the pizza base, not the cheapest but definitely the best. Anything by Mutti is top notch.

The actual Mutti Pizza sauce is even better-use polpa for pasta sauces, chilli etc. It's excellent stuff- all Mutti is -the ready made pasta sauces are excellent (if on offer)

We are lucky in having an excellent Italian-style pizza place in our town-not cheap but excellent.

Even better is the small chain Rudy's Neapolitan Pizza-Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds. Had a pizza there last week-White Pizza with porchetta, smoked mozzarella, caramelised onion and sage roasted potato. Can of San Pelligrino Blood Orange and change from 12 quid.

Chains like Franco Manca and Pizza Union (mainly London) are also decent and better value than Dominos. Would only get a 3.99 little one for lunch.

The mutti nutties.

My mate (who has kids younger than mine and therefore the novelty factor must be more alive) has one of those. His pizzas look both rustic and delightful.

My son bought one a couple of weeks ago.

I bought a pizza stone years ago and only started using it in Lockdown. Of the scale how nice they are.

Certainly is-made a nice spaghetti sauce last night. Two wet chorizo de-skinned and chopped. onion, garlic, herbs and mushrooms. Tin of Mutti polpa, seasoning and splash of wine. Spoon of creme fraiche to finish. Nice tomato salad on the side. Lovely.

Do you offer a delivery service, Prof?

Where do you live? The 180 mile drive to the Swansea area is a bit of a bind though.

Prof, do you put parsley on top of your tomato salad?

If I have fresh flat leaf parsley I would, though basil would be the top choice. Curly parsley only good for parsley sauce. Last nights was just sliced tomatoes, red onion, salt, pepper, a sprinkle of Italian herbs (dried is all I have as not planted any pots up this year). Layer it up the a drizzle of the old balsamic vinegar and oil.
