I wonder what we will all look back on and remember.
Mentioning losing both games to Cardiff and Promotion in the same sentence was making a massive rod for his own back.........he might have said it in anger after the Bristol City game but he needs to control that situation.

I do find it strange that promotion is mentioned by a quite few despite us not winning a game and sitting comfortably in the bottom 3.

It wasn't a carefully planned quip to take the pressure off the players, he isn't clever enough for that. After all, this is a coach who's explicitly said on the record several times that he wants his team to have less of the ball.
So, he made a tit of himself. He's backtracked on it because he knows he made a tit of himself. Now he'll be hoping that we win tomorrow, and it'll never be spoken of again. Otherwise he'll always be reminded of it, by WOL and disgruntled Swans fans.
That's the long and the short of it.
Regardless of all that, let's hope we win tomorrow and put those Scum bastards back in their box for another 6 months. That's the only thing that really matters. COYS.

I personally don’t think there’s much substance to what he said, but I also see why it’s still not sitting well with some, the two league games against that lot are that little bit more important, and we’re only discussing what Duff has said with scrutiny because we’ve had such a mediocre start, there’s a few ways to view it, he could be taking pressure off players as clubs do put emphasis on the derby games, and it’s probably, possibly, why Cardiff haven’t been as successful of recent times as they maybe didn’t take it as passionately? Who knows?
But most people if we could look in a crystal ball, and see us promoted, but losing twice to them, you’d be a bit gutted we didn’t have one over on them, but ultimately wouldn’t give a flying one as you’re playing a division above them, surmising they don’t get promoted too
We’ve also had a great run against them for a long time now bar the odd result, and yeah the thought of losing to them gives you the sh1ts, but all we all really want is to start playing better football, and Cardiff should realistically be no different in preparation as to playing Rotherham or any other club, they’re professional footballers, if they need a history lesson and the threat of loss alienating fans, then they shouldn’t be wearing the shirt of any club let alone ours, at this moment all we can really ask is that we’re at least up for it, and we look like we can compete, a loss wouldn’t go well whatever the weather, and Duff will get pelted either way for saying what he said as a scapegoat, I’m never confident about these games, even less so about tomorrow, but it won’t all be down to what Duff said in a media conference a few weeks back, however I do think he needs some much improved performances to get people onside…..and we’re only about 5 weeks or so into the season
