Duff speaks and backtracks

What if we lose both games to Cardiff and don't go up or even get relegated?
I wonder what we will all look back on and remember.

Mentioning losing both games to Cardiff and Promotion in the same sentence was making a massive rod for his own back.........he might have said it in anger after the Bristol City game but he needs to control that situation.

If that happens I'll look back and remember the sell out cunts selling us to the yanks then I'll remember just how shit the yank owners are, duff will be lower on the list, it starts at the top of you are already looking for someone to blame

What are your thoughts/predictions for Sat anyway Mon?

I have a really, really bad feeling about it

It feels like they are due a turn. A draw would be a good result, a win a great one. If the new players can fit in and make a difference, who knows. If we get the gash of the last month, we’re done. They’ll kill us on fast breaks and width (that’s how they play now - they’re different). Our best hope is to really get at their fragile mindset and pressure them. When Ipswich, Fester and Leeds really got at them, they folded totally. They can’t handle being ahead. Mind you, neither can we, so who knows.

I think we’ll most likely lose this one, but it could go any way, including easy wins for either, but I think it will be close at the death.

And we get relegated all because Duff said he didn't care if we lose to Cardiff

Unless we've sorted out the Swiss cheese defence I think we'll lose this game, let's hope Duffy has put some polyfiller over the gaping holes. 👍

What if we win both games and get relegated and they get promoted. Is Duff some kind of soothsayer then?

FFS, what a load of nonsense all this is. Some people need to take their meds.

He's backtracked that's fine. Bet there's a few on this board have done similar.(You can tell a few would never).
I do find it strange that promotion is mentioned by a quite few despite us not winning a game and sitting comfortably in the bottom 3.

You are correct, it was a silly thing for Duff to say and its now why he is saying the opposite nearly 2 weeks later.
He has been a silly boy and has either realised his error or been advised to say different.

Only one way he can bring the situation back round now.

Is it a “backtrack” or, simply just playing the media game?
I personally don’t think there’s much substance to what he said, but I also see why it’s still not sitting well with some, the two league games against that lot are that little bit more important, and we’re only discussing what Duff has said with scrutiny because we’ve had such a mediocre start, there’s a few ways to view it, he could be taking pressure off players as clubs do put emphasis on the derby games, and it’s probably, possibly, why Cardiff haven’t been as successful of recent times as they maybe didn’t take it as passionately? Who knows?
But most people if we could look in a crystal ball, and see us promoted, but losing twice to them, you’d be a bit gutted we didn’t have one over on them, but ultimately wouldn’t give a flying one as you’re playing a division above them, surmising they don’t get promoted too 👀
We’ve also had a great run against them for a long time now bar the odd result, and yeah the thought of losing to them gives you the sh1ts, but all we all really want is to start playing better football, and Cardiff should realistically be no different in preparation as to playing Rotherham or any other club, they’re professional footballers, if they need a history lesson and the threat of loss alienating fans, then they shouldn’t be wearing the shirt of any club let alone ours, at this moment all we can really ask is that we’re at least up for it, and we look like we can compete, a loss wouldn’t go well whatever the weather, and Duff will get pelted either way for saying what he said as a scapegoat, I’m never confident about these games, even less so about tomorrow, but it won’t all be down to what Duff said in a media conference a few weeks back, however I do think he needs some much improved performances to get people onside…..and we’re only about 5 weeks or so into the season 😂

If they play well and we play well, we win, it's that simple.

100% he was backtracking.

It wasn't a carefully planned quip to take the pressure off the players, he isn't clever enough for that. After all, this is a coach who's explicitly said on the record several times that he wants his team to have less of the ball.

So, he made a tit of himself. He's backtracked on it because he knows he made a tit of himself. Now he'll be hoping that we win tomorrow, and it'll never be spoken of again. Otherwise he'll always be reminded of it, by WOL and disgruntled Swans fans.

That's the long and the short of it.

Regardless of all that, let's hope we win tomorrow and put those Scum bastards back in their box for another 6 months. That's the only thing that really matters. COYS.

Prediction??

Never wanted to be more wrong about anything in my life, but unfortunately I can only see Cardiff winning.

For a whole host of reasons, but chiefly law of averages - our current run in this fixture can't continue indefinitely. It just can't. Given the overall history of the fixture, Cardiff are bound to win one sooner rather than later. That's before you start getting into our well documented problems at the start of this season.

I won't predict an exact score, just that Cardiff will win.

Sorry mate I think that’s received bullshit. They made that up as an excuse, especially about Jones, but look at the reaction to Chopra’s last minute goal. When they win they and Jones were up for it. Strange that.
