Dwy Goes Bren said:I was struck by Duff’s comments that implied there wasn’t really a Swansea Way, or that nobody knew what it was, or that he’d heard several different explanations of it. It’s such an absurd and frankly dishonest comment. It seems to me to be a comment from those gammonball types who pine for a simpler era with hulking monsters playing long ball percentage football. We’ve heard these snide comments before from the likes of Warnock, Pulis and Allardyce. They bridle at the implication that the newer brand is somehow superior to their favoured approach, and perhaps feel that clubs and supporters who favour passing football have a smug and superior attitude.
At its worst it seems like a kind of inverse snobbery and resentment against those who aspire to change or improve themselves. Now, it’s one thing for people outside the club to dish out these types of comments, but for our manager and some coaching staff to come out with stuff like this is beyond the pale.
Great post. My sentiments exactly.
