That's right, don't attack the people responsible and the government sitting on their hands, attack the people offering solutions.

Don't be silly. The majority of posters on this board attack the Tory scumbags frequently. But the opposition party, and in particular their so called leader, are not beyond criticism either.

The weather where I live in November has been good, not sweltering but not cold either. I find that October is the warmest month for the sea, I don't know about November, but we've been in for a dip on Boxing Day and it's been fine.
Can't speak for the Balearics. But with climate change, who knows? It's been upper thirties here for about six or seven weeks now, and we've got a full scale forest fire raging 5km from us over the mountain in Val d'Ebo, with fire fighting planes and helicopters roaring over our house.

NJ are you looking for somewhere that you might get onto a beach and in the sea on November? We've been to Nerja in the October half term a couple of times and seen a busy beach on November 1st. Flight to Malaga is quick and easy.

Alternatively if you want a couple of suggestions for interesting places for a short break but not seaside, I would recommend Porto and include a visit to the port caves, or Ljubljana and make a trip by bus to Lake Bled.

If it's a short flight you're after, you could consider flying to Pisa if you haven't been there before, flights just over 2 hours from Gatwick (you live in Kent, right?) and usually pretty cheap. Tuscany is lovely any time of year although Pisa is not up to much but you can stay on the coast somewhere with a nice beach like Viareggio, make a day trip to Florence, a beautiful city and another to the amazing Cinque Terre, by train if you don't fancy driving. My wife's not keen on long flights so we went to Pisa a few years ago for that very reason and it was great. Might do it again now I seem to have talked myself into it!

And there's always the S of France which is even nearer, about 2 hours Gatwick to Nice. Nice.

I would second Nice. Easy flight and access to the centre is a doddle from the airport - it's actually walkable. Getting to Monte Carlo is easy by train and of you do go to Nice I would highly recommend a visit to Antibes, again by train. Cheaper restaurants and bars in Nice old town.

I've not been to Pisa for decades. I love Italy but I find it frighteningly expensive to eat out. I worked in Genoa briefly and that's a decent place to visit too. Airport is prone to wind shear so be prepared for a go-around! The landing approach is terrific though

Sorry, was a bit tired last night and mistakenly thought I was responding to Lego who I think does live over that way. Apart from that, you can fly to both Pisa and Nice from Bristol if it helps.
